I have my exam on aug 28th, I'm already losing sleep over it (As if I didn't have sleeping problems already). Should I take some sedative to force myself to sleep?

How did you guys prepare the night before, and what did you do for the exam on the day itself? what snacks did you guys bring, and did you review any notes during the break?

As an update to my situation, My scores for exams 6-10 are:
orgo: 21 21 19 19 21
bio: 20 19 21 19 20
chem: 19 21 19 20 22
PAT: 20 19 21 20 21
QR: 16 16 17 17
RC : 17 22 20 19

As you can see, my QR is absolutely killing me, and I know it's gna bring down my average. I wouldn't be as nervous if it weren't for that one section.

EDIT: 2009 scores for SNS are
Bio 22
GC 22
OC 19?

tried to correct whatever answers I could find.

As far as sedatives go - I'm always wary of anything that can impact me on the day of a performance test. I tend to avoid even alcohol about a couple weeks in advance. The important thing is to know if there is a slight chance that the sedative might make your mind foggy on the day of the exam.

Have you tried exercising? It should help you sleep. If you haven't exercised in a while don't go too hard - wouldn't want to be sore the day of your exam.

When walking into the exam try to remember that you studied hard and you are more prepared than you have ever been in the past. It may be difficult, but try to stay calm and not let individual questions hurt your morale.

I didn't bring anything for the real DAT and was not allowed to look over notes. If I could do it again I would recommend bringing water and a snack bar of your choice at the very least. Pro metric doesn't sell anything - or at least not at my location.

I probably looked a little crazy, but during the break I did some push-ups and stretches to get the blood flowing for the RC section. It helped me get charged and into the mind set of "whatever is on this RC test will be the most interesting thing I have ever read."

As far as QR goes - if you think you are going to run out of time - keep an eye on the timer and make sure you at least put an answer for every question.

Most important thing is to do what works for you!

Best of luck!!!

- Don't take anything to sleep, it might bite you in the butt later. Just keep pushing through, and sleep when you're all done!!
- I know I'm an exception, but I studied ochem until 2am and woke up again at 6am to study some more until my test at 8am. It was my weakest subject because I took it last summer, and I feel like if I hadn't done so, I would've scored lower.
- I brought a sandwich and a banana and a water bottle. So glad I did, I was hungry lol.
- I did bring notes, but I didn't review any. I just went outside and walked around for a bit, it really helped clear my head about SNS and PAT.
- Your QR scores are pretty low, I'd say today that should be your focus. Get through as many timed tests of Math Destroyer you can, and focus on getting your weak points sorted out.
Everything else looks pretty decent, good luck!

You don't have much time left and I agree that QR is in the danger zone..Go through the math destroyer, do not use it as a tool for timing, but instead, search through the 40 problem sets and look for problems that you struggle with and work those areas of weakness. I have attached the 20 QC problems we released in case you missed them before.

Don't do sedatives. Just try your best to sleep. I woke up probably 5 times overnight the night before my exam. I felt very queasy and nauseated all the way up until I was in my seat for my exam. Adrenaline will get you through. You won't be tired. Keep remembering why you are doing this and how hard you have worked to get where you are. Visualize your scores and you will come out on the other side relieved, relaxed, and ready to go back to sleep 🙂 I wish you the best of luck on your exam. Try to do a few more problems. Really focus on understanding the QC problems and the usual suspects i.e. rate problems, age problems, etc. Good luck!

Thanks Dr. Romano! I'll definitely run through those problems you attached! realistically speaking, how much improvement do you think I could make with 2 days worth of practice?

Thanks! I almost convinced myself this morning that I had to find nyquil or something haha....

I wouldn't. I hate for you to wake up groggy the morning of your exam. It is always hard for me to shake it off. I am rooting for you!

You do not need to get a 30 in this section but you don't want a 15 either, so even the smallest improvement will help. Don't worry about not being able to sleep, that is quite normal. The more you worry about it the worse it will get. Try to relax and maybe you can find a meditation video on youtube you like. As long as you are awake, keep pushing..No one has ever died from a lack of sleep.

Good luck! Make sure you are comfortable with the new QR questions found in bootcamp, and make sure to stay as calm as possible during your test.

Let us all know how you do!

When I score higher than 15 on RC

Lol, don't worry so much about it. Here's my breakdown, as you could see I never got above a 19 on any of my BC exams for RC. DAT BREAKDOWN 22AA/22TS

English is my second language. I am horrible in English. So don't give up.
First read the first 4 questions, and then read about half the passage using the mapping technique. After reading half the passage, now go read all the questions and answering all that you can. Then start basically reading/S&D.

That's a nice method, I'll try it today, hopefully, that will work!
Thank you so much for the encouragement! I'm glad you did so well on the DAT.
20 on RC is like a dream haha.
