If I am interested in 2 different specialties are am undecided, would anyone ever recommended doing a sub i in each to make a decision?

Idk if I’d recommend it but it’s certainly an option. Although an elective may be a better way to get a feel for the field without volunteering to just do a ton of skut.

Our school requires 2 subIs and it’s aweful

I agree that if possible, do electives and one sub-I.

Sinai requires a sub-I in medicine, peds, ob/gyn, or gen surg, so if you're applying to anything other than that you end up doing 2 Sub-Is in different fields. I've heard of some schools that require a medicine sub-I regardless of field so you will be in good company with 2 Sub-Is if that's what ends up happening.

People do this a lot at my school. If you have the time and the energy, then go for it. Just treat both as if you’re definitely going into the specialty because you’ll need a letter from one of them!
