Feeling underappreciated? Like noone respects you as the super-genius you are? Then join the 20+ DAT Club today and show the world (or at least a few predent nerds) your eye-poppingly awesome DAT scores. All that is required is a score of 20 or better in any category on the DAT and a promise to use your powers for good, not evil. This thread should serve as a good gauge to how much DAT scores affect your chances for admission, so keep us updated on interview offers, acceptances, etc. Happy Posting!

My DAT scores: 21/21/24
I used Kaplan BlueBook and Barrons in case anyone was wondering.

I've seen some pretty lame threads on SDN, but this may take the cake. We get the point, you are real smart. 🙂

21 is not that great when your DMD/DDS class average is 22!

I can't think of too many schools that have a DAT average of 22. My DAT score report says that a 21 is in the 95th percentile, which means that only 5% of the people who took the test scored better than a 21. I guess that means that nearly all of that top 5% went to whatever school you got your numbers from.

"I've seen some pretty lame threads on SDN, but this may take the cake. We get the point, you are real smart. "

The point of this thread is to show people how much a good DAT score can really help their chances for admission. I added that sarcastic stuff at the beginning to try and keep the post from being too serious. And as for me being really smart, well I think its generally agreed upon that any idiot, including myself, can score well on the DAT with plenty of studying and a little luck.

The statistics won't be reliable if you have a 20+ DAT and a 3.8 GPA. Of course you will get accepted. Your 3.8 GPA will affect your admissions tons, possibly more than the DAT.

How about a thread of people with LOW GPA's and 20+ DAT scores? Then we could really see how much effect a high DAT can have when the GPA isn't helping you out as much.

that sounds like my kinda thread!

Count me in....i'm applying to UofP (three years!!!), USC, LomaLinda, Marquette, UIC, Temple, and BU. Sending in AADSAS this week. I will
send updates on interviews/acceptances when they come later.
Other people with 20+ DAT, regardless whether you have a high or low gpa - please let us know where you've applied to and update your interview/acceptance info also! That would be very informative for the rest of us. Who knows, we might end up being in the same class.

I'll jump in on that low GPA 20+ DAT thing. I am applying to Tufts, Colo., BU, temple, Creighton, Loma, and Arizona

nice scores...have u seen the BU video clip?? The school looks amazing. When are u sending in ur application?

I hate to break your bubbles.. but I don't think 20+ is that hard... because c'mon... don't tell me you don't know ******s that got 20+... well if you don't, I am ******ed and I got 21s across the board. I think a 25+ club would be more impressive. Nonetheless, good luck to you all applicants, esp. those low GPA ones... I feel for ya!

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble, but I did not say anything regarding the difficulties of getting a 20+ score. You are simply confusing the pride we have in our scores with attempts to brag that not many others are capable of the same. This is not the case...nowhere on this thread will you find evidence to support the latter supposition. Even if everyone achieved a 20+ on the DAT, I would still be proud of my score and still post in this thread. Bottom line: don't confuse pride with bragging.

you're proud of a mere 20+ ? wow... low standards

do you realize that by demeaning our scores, you in effect imply your "superiority" not only over the members of this thread, but also the majority of SDNers who scored less than 20? We are merely proud of our scores, whereas you are using your (supposedly) higher score to substantiate your arrogance over the majority.

i am proud of my 15/16/14 and 2.9, applying to just harvard cause i mean i kno they want me.

Wrong, I'm demeaning OUR scores. I didn't score higher, I'm in the 20s range myself, but I certainlly don't think it's a cause celebre.

It's like saying, "3.2+ GPA'ers unite!" or something equally vapid.

Besides, DAT scores matter for like 3 months out of your life when you apply, then afterwards, its significance drops to 0. Doesn't matter what you score as long as you get in.

Sorry, but as a counterexample, I would have to say that when one says 10 is more than 8...he is also implying that 10 is greater than the numbers below 8. Enough said.

Thanks a lot I already sent in my app (june 1st) just waiting on aadsas to send it to the schools.

On another note I think some people need to take a step back and relax no one here is bragging and no one is saying that 20+ is an incredible score. I am sure there are many people with a 20 + that don't get into dental school. I think a thread like this can be very positive because it allows you to talk to students that are applying with similar stats which can be very helpful. There is a 3.0 club and if ya want someone can make a 25+ DAT club and a 3.5 GPA club it doesn't really matter. This site is to discuss topics that pertain to predental students and to encourage and help on another. So lets forget about attacking one another over trivial issues.

Amen! You said it all. We are simply gathering students with similar stats (DAT-wise) in order to better gauge our acceptance possibilities.

A 20 on the DAT is somewhere around the 90th percentile, meaning only 1 in 10 people who took the DAT scored 20 or higher. I'm not sure what school you went to, but a score thats in the top 10 percent of the class is pretty good where I come from.

Which are excellent...

I think this question is directed towards me. I e-submitted on May 23rd and the apps got mailed out July 13. Yeah I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly and hear back from these schools soon.
