If a student is using First Aid for the USMLE Step I in conjunction with this, do the cases reference topics in First Aid for Step I? What sort of discussion is included?

In what capacity should this be used in conjunction with other board review prep courses? How are the cases formatted? Passages with multiple questions or single case, single question...?

How is this text different than the Q&A book? A vignette + a couple of questions, just 1 question, etc?

Are there many gross, radiologic, and histologic images that correlate with the cases in this book?

how many cases are there in this book?

is there a summary for each case?

Is this formatted in a similar fashion to case files or blueprints cases? How do the questions relate to step 1 questions? Thanks!

How do you recommened one combines use of this book with the First Aid and First Aid Q & A books?

Longer cases that walk you through several Q&A, so you can build on your knowledge of the case to better answer questions on Exam day. These are Board oriented not clerkship oriented like Case Files.

One case per page, not multiple choice. Require you to think through and build knowledge of longer cases.

400 cases with associated questions that walk you through the case. It is not a vingettes book.

When should I fit this book into my preparation? Are the cases broken down by organ system or subject, to incorporate as I study each topic?

Longer cases that walk you through several Q&A, so you can build on your knowledge of the case to better answer questions on Exam day. These are Board oriented not clerkship oriented like Case Files. They are designed to simulate board questions and to help you gain skills to effectively answer board questions.

You can use all three for a complete Board prep package. The best way is to work through a topic using all three before moving on to the next topic, e.g. microbiology, renal etc.

Like the mother book, the cases book starts with a general principles section followed by an organ systems section. How you use these depends on your learning style!
