Have any of you encountered this problem?

I entered classes for 1st semester in 1999. then I attempt to select 2000 and 2nd semester (spring) of my freshman year. however, amcas keeps putting 1999 by default rather than 2000. what's going on?

that happens to everyone I think, including me. I think its just AMCAS's way of keeping both semesters together in the same academic year. I wouldnt worry about it.

Last year the help files explained that they re-date the spring term to reflect it was part of the academic year of the previous calendar year. While frustrating and completely illogical, there is little you can do about it. I assume that your problem stems from the same re-dating system they used last year. Check the help file to make sure they are using the same system this year. Don't bother contacting AMCAS unless you learn that it isn't intentional, and that no one else is having their semesters re-dated. It's not worth your time.

While the AMCAS application is certainly frustrating, it is not entirely illogical. Spring Semester 2000 is part of the 1999 academic year which would run from September 1999 to May 2000 (or equivalent start/end dates for your school).

I second mpp. (quarter system: school term = mcas appearance) Fall 2000 = 2000/Q1, Winter 2001 = 2000/Q2, Spring 2001 = 2000/Q3, Summer 2001 = 2000/QS, Fall 2001 = 2001/Q1. But when you enter the year, choose the ACTUAL year that you were enrolled. e.g. for Spring 2001, select Q3 & 2001, but it will appear as 2000 Q3.

AMCAS did the same thing last year too. I ended up just putting all my spring quarter classes one year later than they actually were so that it looked appropriate after they were entered. I don't think it really matters which year you put since the AMCAS people will audit your application after they receive your transcripts anyway.

so everyone gets this weird snafu?

Question 2:

Can someone tell me the difference between these academic terms?

4-1-4/4-4-1 Calendar 1st semester (fall)

and

S1 1st Semester (fall)

My school had two semesters, fall and spring. also a summer session which i never attended.

This is what you are supposed to do. Read the "help" description on AMCAS.

Problem:

2001 T1 1st Trimester (Fall)

2002 T1 1st Trimester (Fall)

2002 T2 2nd Trimester (Winter)

My 2002 T2 Winter Trimester should be part of the 2001-02 School year. should i move it to 2001 T2 Winterl, even though my transcript says its "2002 Winter"

Exception Only applicants who have taken courses during the winter term in a trimester/quarter system in which the winter term begins in January will experience this issue. The application operates on the basis that winter courses in a trimester/quarter system begin in December; as such, after translation occurs, these courses will have the same academic year as calendar year, even though the correct academic year is the previous one. ? Example: A winter trimester course beginning in January 2002 will be listed in the application with an academic year of 2002 (2002-2003). The correct academic year is 2001. ? Solution: A course beginning in January 2002 should be entered as though it began in December 2001, in order to reflect a correct academic year of 2001.

thanks

Course number:

if your school lists it as "R1002" do you write that or "1002" into amcas?

If your school lists it as "CHEMENG 410" do you write "CHE 410" "410" or what

What's the solution??????????????????????????????

Question # 1: How would you define an academic term of LECOM (as the pharmacy program was accelerated)?

I have to enter my grades from LECOM into this med school AMCAS application - as it appears exactly on LECOM transcript. So, in order to enter those grades in AMCAS application online, I have to select a specific semester or whatever system. In my transcript, grades are entered as
1st semester (2005-06 ac yr) from 09/05 to 03/06
2nd semester (2005-06 ac yr) frpm 03/06 to 09/06
..........and so forth.................

http://my.lecom.edu/pharm/pharm/curric.asp

Ok, now AMCAS options for selecting an academic term:(which option do I have to select for entering the grades of my 1st year)? Followings are the listed options:
Summer session (summer)
1st semester (fall)
2nd sem (spring)
Mini semister (winter/spring)
Summer quarter
1st quarter (fall)
2nd quarter (winter)
3rd quarter (spring)
Summer trimester (summer)
1st trimester (fall)
2nd trimester (winter)
3rd trimester (spring)
Full year (semester system)
Full year (quarter system)
Full year (trimester system)
4-1-4/4-4-1 Calender Summer session
4-1-4/4-4-1 Calender 1st semester (Fall)
4-1-4/4-4-1 Calender 2nd semester (Spring)
4-1-4/4-4-1 Calender mini sem (winter/spring)
4-1-4/4-4-1 Calender full year course(s)
Other term

Thanks for the help (in advance).
