Sup alternate listers! Check in and wait together.

I spoke with a UCI adcom dude, and he gave me this nuggest of info: The adcom grades the applicants. This is what determines the order in which alternate listers get looked at. When there are spots open in the class, they'll go to the computer and it will spit out some names. I'll try to quote: "It's all by computer". Then some humans will choose people to be accepted. He declined to tell me what exactly goes on in this step. At this stage, people could be pulled for acceptance, but be torpedoed by the dean [or some other people]. So I guess that's why they don't want to have a numbered waitlist.

Some more info

*Somebody who speaks with the adcom guy says that the alternate list is actually divided in three parts. The top part is likely to be accepted, the middle third is iffy and could go either way, and the last third is unlikely to be taken off.
*Much of the waitlist movement will occur in the two weeks after May 15. After then, the chances of getting in fall dramatically.
*Gayle told me that she disagrees with the adcom member about some things. She didn't specify what.

I'm on this list too. They tell me its unranked and "a review process" which makes me think its ranked somehow. Oh well, good luck everyone!

Hey I was only wondering if anyone knew how large the wait list is and how many people UCI usually accepts from the wait list? I understand it to be that if you didn't recieve an acceptance call that you went on the alternate crew 🙁 .
