Accepted off the waitlist this morning. :soexcited:
MCAT 34
GPA 3.68

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Congratulations! And a Braves fan to boot! I am surprised that you were even waitlisted unless you applied late or had some other perceived limitation. Your MCAT (90th+ percentile) compares VERY favorably with the MCG average of 30.3 (about 80th percentile) for matriculants.

Good luck! If you apply yourself, you should fare well with MCG's traditional grading system versus the P/F now seen at many places. 🙂

Does anyone know about how many students have been accepted off the wait list?

Has there been any waitlist movement in the past two days that anyone knows about?

Congrats everyone. MCG is a good place to be!

Just got accepted @ Baylor and have a shot @ Emory...will give back November acceptance in Augusta, freeing up a spot...good luck to all! :luck: 😉

FWIW, Baylor might be less expensive all-in than MCG (which has escalated its costs over the years relative to the private schools), partly because you can establish residency in Tx. after 1 year and reduce tuition by $36k over the M2-M4 period...even OOS tuition is less, though fees there are sneaky high.

Accepted this morning via e-mail.
30R, 3.78, pretty bad interview imo.

Congrats!!! I'm sure that made your weekend. I'm glad to see the waitlist moving. Your stats are close to mine so there may be some hope for me. Are you a post-bac, or second time applicant? Or have anything else about your application that would have caused you to be ranked higher on the waitlist than someone else with the same gpa and mcat score? (yours are better than mine, I'm just trying to gauge what my chances are.) Thanks!!

This might help vis-a-vis your chances...published data for all ACCEPTED applicants (versus actual matriculants shown here) are higher than these numbers, but these are your target mean averages; MCAT about 80th percentile:

FACT Sheet for the MCG 2011 Entering Class
Class Academic Qualifications

Overall grade point average 3.7
Science grade point average 3.65
Mean MCAT score 30.3

There hasn't been any movement lately. 🙁 I hope that's not a sign that the "musical chairs" is over. Was anyone waitlisted last year who might notice a trend?

I'm certain that there will be some movement once the swaps move down the conga line.

Accepted off the waitlist on the 18th! 👍 I was originally assigned to Augusta (not my first choice), but after about a week got a call from Mrs. DeVaughn saying that I got an Athens spot, so the past couple weeks have been quite a blessing. To me this means there's a lot of hope for those currently waitlisted, because it seems like there is still a lot of movement.

Now that I know that I'm actually going to be in school this August, I need a roommate. Is there another forum for finding roommates / is there anyone (preferably a first-year male like me) that needs a roommate? I'm probably going to be renting a house a short walk from the new Athens location.

There is a Facebook Group for c/o 2016 and a more specific MCG/UGA extension 2016 group where people have been posting for roommates.

See you in Athens!

Just wondering if any waitlisters have already sent in their transcripts? If you did, has your transcript status ever changed from missing?

I had to send mine in twice from 3 different schools, and I had to call MCG 5 times to finally get them to change the status from missing.

I don't think so, but I made sure because the email said that we should.

Can someone post the link to the Class of 2016 Facebook group? The search feature found the Athens-specific group and the Dental School, but not Augusta 2016. Need to get on housing quickly!

I transferred from the Augusta campus to the Athens campus today, so there should be a spot opening up in Augusta. Good luck guys.

First-time applicant..Took a gap year.. ended up taking a few extra classes, spent time with my family and friends, backpacked through Europe for a month, and had a lot of fun.. this gap year was SO important to me and I don't think I'd be the same person had I not have taken it. besides that pretty standard grades, ECs, leadership, research, etc.. If you want it and believe it, you'll achieve it. Best of luck to you!!

Anyone have any info on number acceptances per undergrad school? Like UGA, GT, emory, etc?

For our year we had 90 UGA, 30 Tech, and a bunch from other schools (total 190).

Awesome, thanks! (I presume those numbers are matriculants)

What year are you, out of curiosity?

Well, we have about a month to find out. After that, good luck next cycle, everyone!

Has anyone heard about the wait list recently?

I'm afraid it's the end of this cycle.

I wouldn't quite say that it is the end yet. I have been talking to some students at MCG, and they have been telling me that a few of their classmates were accepted in the last couple of days due to people making last minute swaps. So not all hope is lost (at least until Aug. 2)!

What is the housing situation for the 3rd and 4th year. I'm trying to figure out if most students have to rent a place in Augusta during those two years of rotations if they do rotations outside of Augusta.

By the time you are a MS3 there will be 4 satellite campuses (5 total campuses) around the state: Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Rome, and NE Georgia (Athens area). These sites will be where students can elect to do most, if not all of their clinical rotations in this designated area. In order to stay in Augusta for all of your rotations you have to be married and/or have dependent children.

With that said, most students do not elect to go to a satellite campus and will enter into a lottery for their rotation sites. You rank different sites around the state and you get what you get. Most of these students keep a place in Augusta and use the housing program at each institution that they travel to. I don't personally know anyone in my class that doesn't have some place that they call "home."

I just got accepted on Wednesday to the Augusta campus! 🙂 Have been waiting SO LONG for any kind of correspondence! Don't lose hope guys. There is still movement 🙂

Can I ask your stat? cause the last person who got off the wait list has similar stats with mine.

Sure, IS, 3.74/mid-20s MCAT. My MCAT score is horrible but I think my research experiences may have balanced it out.

Thank you. I'm still waiting to hear from MCG. I got into another med school, but it's in Philly. I just want to stay in Georgia with my family.
I thought the wait list is ordered by the stats, but I don't think it's like that.

Still crossing my fingers though.

Congratulations on the Philly school! Don't worry, there is definitely still time. Best of luck!

It's not ordered by stats.
