Well from 5 to 2. I just withdrew from New York Medical College. I had a significant scholarship so I hope it goes to one of you members. Maybe that former fool who had the Patrick Willis picture as his avatar who smartened up to the UFC. His true evolution will be if he puts up a Steeler Picture.

thanks,

Withdrew yesterday! I really enjoyed my experience with NYMC. I would have loved to attend, but my family wanted me closer to home for a few years. Good luck!

How do u know that's game over? Maybe they are sending acceptances through slow mail now!

While I'm all for not giving up hope (its not over until the fat lady sings), a school wouldn't change it's method of notification so late in the cycle, especially not from a faster method to a slower method. It IS May 15th, afterall.

Regardless, don't worry about it until you get the letter and see what it says.

Aww I see. That does make sense! Sigh.. I thought they would at least offer waitlist for almost all the people who interviewed..

I haven't heard yet either after interviewing last month :(
So is it acceptance by email,
Rejection pre interview by email
And rejection post interview by mail?
Seems like an arbitrary system.
Guess I should start my 2013 AMCAS. *Sigh

Yep that sounds right as far as I know. Tough decision but I just gave up my spot. Hope one of you guys waiting picks it up.

was told by a very annoyed lady (probably due to high volume of calls) that something was sent on the 10th for my file. Which i assume is a rejection letter, yet I haven't received anything thus far..

I'm in the same boat! Trying to stay positive. Many people get accepted off the wait list at this school, but am starting AMCAS 2013 and submitting first day it opens!!

Anyone hear of any waitlist movement yet?

No, not yet. Per a post I saw from last year, it seems that it takes them about two weeks at least. Anxiously awaiting!

I know this question has been brought up a few times before, but I'm wondering if any current students can tell me whether or not I will need a car. For example, will I need one to travel to preceptor locations? Obviously, having a car would be nice, but I'm from the Midwest, so bringing a car out to NY (especially one that isn't all that new) could be a challenge.

Lots of people did not have a car and got by just fine. When applying for preceptor positions they specifically ask if you have a car or not, and try to place people without cars closer to campus or with other students who do have cars. That being said, I'm from CO and I did bring my car (not the most thrilling road trip for sure). And I would suggest bringing your car if possible- It will just make your life so much easier and convenient because despite what some people say, you will have quite a bit of free time in the first 2 years and will probably not want to feel stuck on campus.

Just got off the waitlist!! Interviewed 5/3, waitlisted 5/9. They sent me an email yesterday asking if I was still "seriously interested" in remaining on the waitlist, I sent them a reply, and today I got the acceptance email!

So I guess there IS waitlist movement.

Is the "seriously interested" different from a normal wait list notification? I didn't have that phrase in my email.

Seriously interested just came they basically knew I
Got accepted elsewhere and were wondering if I was still interested. So it's either to weed out people right now or it's to see if the "next batch" is gonna
Accept if given an offer

Many schools do that, Einstein did it to me and I got accepted several days later. Apparently, the goal is to not offer to to students who already had their top choice and would only immediately withdraw once accepted. I believe a small portion of your ranking is due to matriculation rate compared to total acceptance offered. You don't want to be the school offering to many only have to many withdraw.
