Are the statistics in the NRMP Data results before the scramble? Or post scramble?

As the name implies (charting outcomes in the MATCH), it relates to the MATCH, not the SOAP/scramble

True. But unbelievably stupid if they want people to believe that they have a chance given how drastically different the match was this year pre-soap.

You mean the part where 93.9% of US MD seniors matched pre-SOAP to PGY-1 positions this year, compared to 94.4% the year before and 93.7% the year before that?

Uhh what? They mean the part where all the competitive specialities have astronomical step scores and insane pub/abstract/presentation counts. They mean the part where over half of derm incoming have AOA...etc...in comparison to the last charting outcomes multiple years ago

Well, first off, Kaustikos said this year (i.e. 2015) was so much different pre-soap, and the last charting outcomes was from 2014, so not sure what you are talking about there. As others have said, this year was no different than last year.

And if you actually look at the documents you are citing, you will see that things have in fact not changed that much from 2011 (2nd most recent charting outcomes) to 2014. Take for instance derm. In 2011 for matched USMDs, averages were 244/253 with 50.8% AOA. In 2014, those numbers were 247/255 with 50.8% AOA. So again, not sure what you are talking about. Those increases in step scores are actually less than just the general overall increase in step scores seen over those years. And the percentage of AOA is literally exactly the same.

Since Match Day happens after the soap, you are saying that the spots are post soap then?

What?

Everyone (SOAP or no) might find out at the same time, but it is trivial for the NRMP to track applicants that match through the traditional process vs. through the SOAP.

The data the NRMP provide in their report entitled Main Residency Match Results and Data pertain to the Main Residency Match. The Supplemental Offers and Acceptance Program is covered only in the last few pages of the report.

No that is not what I am saying. 2 dumb questions in one thread. You're on a roll.

I don't like the attitude but I do appreciate a well-crafted specialty joke/burn.
That is all it was suppose to be! Gotta love the specialty jokes! Thanks for the help everyone. All figured out now!
