Yeah their update shows 15 to be exact. They're up to 76 now. Not sure if anyone heard anything this week though.

Welp, unless they all went out to non-SDN members, I suppose I stand corrected.

Hey all, congrats to those who have been accepted thus far! Wanted to share some info about a really cool event we have at Brody each spring that happens to fall during second look weekend. Feel free to hit me up on Twitter if you have any questions about the event or Brody in general at @TrevorHunt_ECU (please don't message this SDN account, I never check it).

If you're planning to come for second look, please save the date for PIRATES VS. CANCER 2019! Free food, lots of fun, and a great way to mingle and meet current ECU students and staff... all while raising money for our local pediatric cancer patients! We’d love it if you stopped by on the Friday of your second look weekend. Check out the flier below and this link for a video from last year's event!

Will be starting at Brody this fall. Can I PM any current student so I could ask too many questions?

I interviewed in December and I just emailed the SOM admissions email regarding an update of some of my information, I asked if there was any way I could check on the status of my application and they told me "Your application has been before the committee and a final decision was not made--I would expect all applicants should hear something by about the middle of March or so--".

I called, and they said the same thing. So I guess its March for us now.

DM me on Twitter and I’ll give you my email. I don’t check this account regularly and couldn’t see the option to pm you when I clicked just now, sorry

Do we think that’s it for all the initial offers before waitlist?

I'm not sure though, because on their site it says it typically takes 120-130 offers to fill a class and they've only made 76, not completely certain if that includes waitlist offers or not. I was placed on their waitlist last year and did not hear that I was until late March.

Does anyone know if accepted students get a formal acceptance letter in the mail, in addition to the emai? Asking for sentimental parents lol

I don't think they will, but you could just print off the PDF they sent us and send it to them :D

For students that got accepted, would you mind sharing your mcat score? I had a post-rejection advising session and they told me they are looking for a 505, just wondering how accurate that is.

Do many accepted students have access to the FB page for the class of 2023? I’m recently accepted but I still haven’t been granted access and I’m curious what housing options are available.

Not sure if this is 2017 or 2018 data, but here goes:

Accepted students: 25th percentile is 503, median is 508, 75th percentile is 512

Matriculated students: 25 percentile is 503, median is 508, 75th percentile is 510.

It took a little while for me to get access too, maybe like a week, but it finally happened lol

Does anyone know if the 5-day orientation is an all day thing?
It looks like it's ~8-5 on most of the 5 days. Some days there are additional info sessions after 5, and I think we might have to check in a bit early on the first day.

also- just got the email about 2nd look. Anyone else going to that? I haven't decided yet.

What were your ECs?
Shadowing approx. 150hr under two specialties
Research based internship
Multiple leadership positions throughout undergrad
500 plus volunteer hours some clinical, some not medically related.
Plus 1.5 years professional experience in a medical lab working full time.

It’s a toss up man. I waited months to hear back from Brody, but was accepted to unc less than a month after the interview.

To all wondering, 2nd look is a blast! Tons of the current students come out to hang out with you all at formal events as well as informal ones (drinks downtown, etc.). Many people meet their future best friends or roommates at 2nd look. It really is a blast, definitely come check it out!

Also, here is the final flier with more info about Pirates Vs. Cancer on April 5 from 4-7pm. This is the evening you would arrive for 2nd look, so get to town before 4 and come start it off with a bang! Great place to meet current students and staff and see what Brody is all about!

I haven’t heard back about admission into Brody, but I did hear that I got into their Summer Program for Future Doctors, anyone else attending or applied?

I don’t have a crazy EC. Decided to go into medical school years after I got out of college so started a little too late on everything. Non-traditional. Around 50 hours of shadowing across 4 specialties. 4 years experience as a medical lab tech. 160 hours of clinical volunteering (hospice and hospital). 100hours of non clinical volunteering (low income school mentor and conservation volunteer). 200 hours of research with no publication. 2 years of being a TA for three classes. One year of organic chemistry tutor.

Does anyone (particularly current Brody students) know on average, after tuition and fees, what amount from loans is left for cost of living? I want to start organizing a budget but I can't do much yet w/o the award letter! lol
