I'm in the same boat of having not heard back. I am planning to call today as MCG is only conducting interviews through December this year and only 2 days a week. I went to the same university for undergrad and have a LM of 72. I really thought I would have heard back by now since I was complete by September 1. I also got the email about sending in tax forms even though I had already submitted them. I usually wouldn't call, but I just want to make sure I didn't mess anything up.

Not questioning your claims at all, but last year they gave out nearly 500 interviews. Assuming the same is true this year, how in the world are they conducting around 500 interviews all before January especially at just 2 days a week? Are they granting fewer interviews this year?

Sincerely,

A concerned ga resident eagerly awaiting an II

The presentation mentioned 600 interviews and that MMI helps them reach a decision more quickly. I’m not sure the logistics but there were about 18-20 people on my interview day.

I called and they said my file had everything on it(was complete). I guess they are just going a little slower this year due to the changes in their process. (since they added the CASPer and changed to MMI)

Okay I guess that makes more sense. I knew in previous years they interviewed through March, so the December really threw me off. At the rate of around 20 interviewees per day, 600 interviews is achievable through January. All makes sense now. Sorry for frantically venting but this app cycle has me really stressed because of the lack of transparency. Complete in early August, have 1 II, and nothing but silence from all 13 other schools. As a ga resident, I was really banking on at least an interview from MCG.

I'm in in the exact same situation. Only II is from Mercer. I'm still hoping for MCG to send me an II as well.

Athens M1 here. Mondays we are on campus typically 8-12, and every other week we have community visits usually 1:30-3:30. Tuesdays/Thursdays are probably the worst because we have class in the morning 8-11 and then either anatomy or clinical skills from 1-4. Wednesdays are the best, usually only in class 8-11. And then Fridays are quiz days.

I usually have 3-4 hours a day for good studying and still have time to go on runs, work out, and attend interest group meetings. I give myself Friday night through Sunday afternoon off. Med school is how you make it, no matter what campus you go to.
Thanks for your response! Is that 8-11 AM block the mandatory small group block, or does it include the large group lecture? The way I understand it, that large group lecture is optional, right?

Small group is only from 8-10 on MWF, and that has mandatory attendance. We have large group lectures usually 10-12 Monday, 8-11 or 12 on Tuesday, 10-11 on Wednesday, and 8-10 on Thursday. And yes, the large group is more-or-less optional. Most of the time all lecture PowerPoints are posted the weekend before.

I interviewed MD RD 1st/2nd week of September and still haven't heard anything, even though they said 4-6 week turnaround for decisions (It's been 9-10 weeks now). Should I be worried?

I feel you! I interviewed at the end of September, so it's been 7 weeks now. I would not be worried. I believe for RD there has only been 1 wave of acceptances back in mid October (just from what I saw on this school thread). There's still time! You can get an acceptance all the way until the week before orientation I believe.

Hi all; I’m in the same boat as a lot of you. Submitted July but no word yet!!

I do have a quick question, though! If I upload an update document, do I need to email admissions to let them know?

Thanks!! And stay strong everybody!!! ❤❤

I don't think you have to let them know, your file should update automatically. But I would go ahead and email them, just so you're on their radar. Good luck!

I am in the same boat. I have a 522 meat and 3.6 gpa so I was hoping the balance would make it so I would be able to count on mcg but I haven’t heard back at all from mcg or any other schools except one II from Mercer that got sent last week. Very worried.

II today! Complete 9/12
URM, AA Female, Instate
503 MCAT | BCPM GPA: 3.4, AO GPA: 3.75, Total GPA: 3.58
Congratulations! Do you mind if I ask you how many shadowing hours you have or other factors that might also play in? I haven’t received anything from mcg after having submitted my secondary back in early August so I am just wondering if I maybe did something wrong in my essays or if I just don’t have enough shadowing (I started late so I only have about 150 shadowing hours) but I have a 522 mcat. Just worried and trying to gauge whether I should expect to get anything or not. Thank you!

MCG doesn’t care so much about shadowing, as long as you’ve done some. They’re big on community service, both clinical and otherwise.

Don’t worry too much. I know it’s easier said than done but just try to relax. You have great stats and based on your other post you have done plenty of shadowing. As long as you have clinical and non-clinical experiences I’m sure you’re going to receive an II here! Did you apply later? If so, it could be that they just haven’t gotten to your app yet! Hope this helps.

Congratulations, that's great news. Did they call/email? When had you interviewed?
Thank you! I interviewed October 24 and was notified via email around noon!

On my interview day they said it would take at least 6 weeks to hear back, so i guess they’re moving much faster than they initially anticipated

I applied early (early August) and I actually don’t have a ton of shadowing since I’m non traditional (decided I wanted to go to medical school when I was 5 years into a PhD program) I have about 200 hours of shadowing- but lots of lab experience from grad school so hopefully that will help. Thank you for your response. Maybe I should try and keep getting shadowing hours and send updates.

In case it is helpful to anyone else- I spoke with the admissions office and they confirmed that they do 6 rounds of acceptances - 1 in October, November December, January, February and March. They send roughly 50 acceptances per round. We can all at least be happy to know there are four more rounds upcoming.

I'm a GA resident and still have not heard back for an II...submitted my app late July and mid-October they reached out to me saying they needed some more proof of residency forms (which I submitted immediately btw). Getting a little worried since so many people have already had interviews/acceptances :( LM 65
Literally the same thing happened to me if it makes you feel better. LM 68 but beginning to wonder if I will get an II or not!
Me too and I submitted all of my Georgia residency documents the first time. Idk why this is happening and I am getting pretty anxious. Neither them nor Mercer have given me any love
Don't lose hope. I'm an M1 at MCG now. I didn't get an interview to Mercer until late November, interview to MCG in middle of December, and I got accepted to both schools.

Edit: I also submitted all documents to both schools like the first day the app opened. I'm also ORM and nonstellar LizzyM and tbh, a very nonstellar applicant.

Hope is never lost!
Just keep yourself busy, live your life normally.
I totally remember being in your shoes last year and freaking out. Looking back, it was wasted energy and time.

Thanks for sharing! I interviewed back in September and I was feeling kind of down since I haven't heard back yet. It makes me feel a little better to know there's still time left to hear back.

For those who haven't heard back, I submitted the day after the secondary was released. Called to make sure I correctly submitted residency documents and was complete a week after the secondary was released. I have been in complete silence since then as well.

Just try to pass the time and get your mind away from the cycle. I know this waiting is awful but hang in there!

I wonder if they are going slower than normal this year due to the changes in their admissions process. I hope that's the case and not that I did anything wrong...It's almost Thanksgiving and I was really hoping for an II from them by now.

Also does your status say Application complete?
Mine just says "Application Submitted"

So is it anatomy during M1 and then clinical skills during M2? Or is it both anatomy and clinical skills throughout both M1 and M2?

Both anatomy and clinical skills are in the M1 year. Half of the class will have anatomy lab on Tuesdays from 1-4, while the other half will have clinical skills on Tuesday from 2-4. On Thursdays, the groups switch.

I believe we need to print the 3rd page (called “Acceptance Form”) of the acceptance packet and sign it. Then we scan that page and upload it in our online portal.

Then mail the acceptance form along with a check for the deposit to the address on the bottom of the acceptance form.

Hope this is helpful to you :)

This might seem neurotic but are beards okay during interviews?
If you can pull it off like the Duck Dynasty guys, then go for it!!! However, if you are a woman I would consider shaving.

In all seriousness: be who you are. And look as professional as possible while doing so. (You get one shot at this generally speaking. Make it count.)
