Also what are your stats if you don't mind me asking?
I am in-state and I have a 3.7 GPA, 499 MCAT, and I am non-traditional & URM.
I had the same thing happen to me, and I emailed Amy this morning. She said they had received way more applications than expected, and so had to put a bunch of people on hold. They'll be reviewing the on-hold apps this Friday, so expect a decision late Friday/early Monday!
Does anyone know if the committee met today? I remember hearing October 26th. I’m so anxious to hear back!!
I think they meet on the 30th but not sure!
The MD/PhD committee was supposed to meet today
ACCEPTED!!! Got the call around 4:30; I'm a re-applicant so I'm SO STOKED !!!!!!!!!!!
IS, MCAT 512, GPA 3.7
Complete (primary + secondary) 7/20, II 10/2.
MUSC interview 10/12, outside alumnus interview 10/17
Accepted 10/30, 4:25 PM (phone call)
Third time applicant, I guess third time is the charm after all! Congrats to everyone accepted today, hope to meet you soon!
Accepted today as well!
Accepted yesterday!!! Got the call around 4:30. So stoked!
When I got the call I was told that I would be getting an email with instructions on making the deposit. However, the email was more of a Congratulations with no instructions. Any idea when/how we place the deposit?
If deposit instructions do not accompany the official letter of acceptance next week, I plan to contact MUSC admissions with this question.
Interview invite received today. MCAT scores submitted October 1st, 2018, secondaries completed October 5th.
Are you IS or OOS?
Does anyone know the ideal time to have an apartment secured by?
OOS- does anyone have an idea how long it takes to hear anything after getting the "we printed your close ties" email?
Went to undergrad at CofC. Honestly, in the next 2-3 months for options for anything below Spring Street.. but you can still find some stuff a little bit further out closer to the summer. Grad students and the like tend to live a little bit further out anyway. Not sure what its like if you want to live off the peninsula though
I submitted in early September and got that email a couple days after. Since then I have not heard anything. But if you check your status on the portal it says they won't start review OOS apps until November/December.
Yeah was just looking into that too... weird that several other OOS applicants have already gotten II's though
Wait really? Has someone OOS on this thread posted that already?
Well mine was printed on July 23, so... haha. I haven't heard anything
I am out of state technically but went to USC for undergrad
I have no idea what that means
Stats basically, its your GPA and MCAT
When I got called I don't remember them saying anything about making a deposit so I'm not sure. Would anyone mind updating if they hear more about this?
As someone who just payed their deposit for ED, basically they will send you an acceptance packet. The packet contains 1. Your acceptance letter itself signed by the dean, 2. Technical standards for being in their college that you have to sign and agree to, and 3. The sheet where you either check off whether you accept the offer or don’t accept the offer. If you accept you pay the deposit of $485. You can include a money order, check, or there’s a space for credit card info. I think you have 2-3 weeks to reply, and If you decide not to go they refund the deposit at a later date
Also, I believe the deposit covers our graduation dues. This explains why it is so expensive. Congrats to all accepted. If you have any questions, I am a current M1 who is more than happy to answer what I can!
hey fellow oos applicants, curious if when checking your application status, does it have anything in the slot next to verification? submitted my supplemental in 7/16 and letters are in, just wondering if the verification slot is empty for anyone else/if i need to do anything about it?
Just got an Interview invite for Jan 11th! Super excited about this one, I go to school in SC (so I have close ties) but am an OOS student! LM 71. So PUMPED!
when where you complete?
I got the notification of the primary July 17th and my Consideration of Close ties done July 30th @csg08
Nothing next to verification row. I was complete 8/21. Above median stats for SC and from the South, so I was hoping for some southern draw. ugh.
Mine doesn't say anything. Still waiting to hear if I get anything from them... I have no ties to the state.
Is it insane to send an "in the area" email if I'm coming to SC from OOS for two other interviews in the same week next month? even though it says they don't start interviewing OOS applicants until the spring? Or just suck it up and wait? I haven't recieved an interview invite from MUSC yet, just would love to avoid making multiple trips...
Anyone else on this thread interviewing this Friday? Nervous? Lol
Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile
Tough call but I would suck it up and wait.
You can make an account on the MUSC housing website and begin looking, that is what I did. No idea when is a good time to secure one by! I would imagine not until spring when people begin moving out?
My application doesn't say anything under verification and comments other than "RECOMMENDATIONS RECVD: AMCAS letters have been received".
Does anyone else's application say anything else?
+1 I want to call and ask but at the same time i dont
Anyone get any good feedback by sending a letter of interest/intent to the admissions team?
mine is the same. I think this is normal? seems like most others have that.
Mine said that for the entire time until I sent in my deposit then it marked that as received, so I wouldn’t expect it to change, they communicate everything through email
Post-interview “High hold list” for the MSTP today. Interviewed late October.
Best of luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow!
II for 1/4
