It’s a bit weird to pre II hold at this point in the cycle.
I say your guess is as good as mineDue to the amount of people on pre-II hold, I’d assume the majority would be rejections.. just speculation though.
I know a Penn State med student that was put on pre-II hold around this time during her cycle... I would assume it is a rejection for peace of mind, but I certainly would not withdraw. Just in case. There is clearly a chance. Try to stay positive. Good luckPre-II hold today. Might just withdraw at this point.
I’m a current student and would be happy to answer any questions you may have! Just shoot me a private message!II here a few days ago. OOS LM 72, complete early August.
Already holding an acceptance at another school with a better location/rank and was wondering if any current/former students or interviewees could speak on their experience here? Leaning towards attending the interview just because you never know if you’ll fall in love with a school, but just wanted more input before bleeding out more cash. Thanks!
Hello, everyone! I am a first-year medical student a part of the University Park (UP) Program. I am here to tell you about our program and answer any questions you may have. This is open to anyone who is accepted to Penn State College of Medicine. I recommend you check out our website which dives into our curriculum. The website is https: //med.psu.edu /md/university-park (new SDN account so it won't let me link it )
Who are we? We are a regional campus in State College. The UP Program is currently in its second year (you'd be our third class!) Each cohort is 12 students. Here is a very brief overview of our program:
Why join? We are an innovative new program that is ideal for learners who like collaboration, team-based, and experiential learning. We have early clinical exposure and aim to integrate all of our basic and clinical sciences into what we see in the clinic. We are a tight-knit community and since it is a small cohort, you get close mentoring by faculty and attending physicians. Also, every accepted student to our program will receive a $20,000 scholarship ($80,000 total).
- First year: We have early clinical experiences (approximately 8 hours/week in primary care clinics) and meet three times a week for small group (called inquiry sessions or IQ). In small group we present patient cases, select two for the week, and then develop learning objectives to address Penn State's four pillars (basic science, clinical science, health systems science, and health humanities). Our week is supplemented with volunteering, clinical skills (e.g. creating/defending differential diagnoses and physical exam skills), as well as basic science lectures (2 times/month) and anatomy lab.
- Second year: Clerkships begin second year! We use the longitudinal integrated clerkship model. Unlike 4 to 6 week blocks with different specialties, your clerkships will be interspersed. The goal is to have more continuity of care. You will also be able to follow specific patients throughout the year. You will still complete some clerkships (inpatient peds, inpatient psych) at Hershey. If you need to be in Hershey, housing is provided.
- Third year: Clinical immersion will continue into third year but third year goes back to the classroom to engage in more meaningful small group learning in order to prepare for Step 1. Third year has dedicated Step 1 study time which we (as well as Hershey students) will take at the end of MS3.
- Fourth year: Fourth year is similar to other medical schools. It is a continuation of rotations as well as electives, away-rotations, and residency applications.
How to join: In order to be considered for the UP campus, you need to be accepted into Penn State College of Medicine first. There were supplemental questions on the secondary for the UP campus but you can still apply even if you did not fill those out initially. Please email our Student Services Manager, Kristen Horn, if you have interest in applying at [email protected].
Please message us if you have any questions! There are three first-year students working with admissions this year, and we are excited to answer any questions you may have. Whether you've been accepted into Penn State or not, we'd love to hear from you!
Anybody know/think if they might send out any post-II decisions tomorrow? Going crazy waiting since my II in October, and can't figure out the pattern of when decisions usually come out...

How long do we typically have to wait before a decision is made post-II?I’m a current student and would be happy to answer any questions you may have! Just shoot me a private message!

Definitely not " undoubtedly" a rejection given that a handful people did indeed get IIs last year after being put on pre-II hold before. It's undoubtedly a rejection. I'm assuming they're using it the same way UCSD and Drexel do
Congratulations! Did you receive an email?Accepted today!! Interviewed October 5th
Yup! Same thing happened to me. I called the admissions director and he said that the link hasn't been updated/isn't working yet. Did you get any info about second look day though? I didn't :/For those of you who were accepted and paid the deposit, did anyone else receive an email with student orientation survey, but get an invalid address page?
Anyone else still not hear anything since being complete? No pre-II hold?
Never mind. Placed on post-II hold....So if I interviewed end of October and didn’t hear anything today...silent rejection?
Furious with the inefficiency of this process

I am in the same boat, post-II hold. Not sure if this is a soft rejection, I have read that you are either accepted or placed on hold after interviews so chances of getting an acceptance could be low? Is there a chance we hear something before April 30th?Anyone know what post-II hold really means? Is that synonymous with waitlist? I'm just confused and haven't seen anyone else on here get it so far

If it is the same thing as a waitlist, msar data suggests we have a 60-100% chance of getting off it in the future...which honestly seems too good to be trueI am in the same boat, post-II hold. Do y'all mind telling me how long (post- interview) it took to be told you were on committee hold?If it is the same thing as a waitlist, msar data suggests we have a 60-100% chance of getting off it in the future...which honestly seems too good to be true
Seems like everyone post interview is placed on hold or accepted. I don't know of anyone rejected after an interview. Really no help when making decisions.Anyone know what post-II hold really means? Is there any way to provide updates to PSUCOM? Pre-II hold, but have some transcript and activity updates. Should I email them?
They do not accept letters of intent or updates. They said they only accept updates on your grades.
