Interviewed in September and still haven’t heard anything. Out of curiosity has anyone here who interviewed for IMED received their decision yet?

Were you able to apply/interview for the program without receiving an acceptance?

Yes you are able to apply to any of their programs before being accepted! If you had already interviewed previously, however, it will require a second program-specific interview.

To those who have been accepted, do you know when we will hear about the campus placement?

I called this morning and was told that my application has been deferred to the next committee meeting on February 7. But the deferred status does not appear on my portal. So if you haven't heard anything post-II, you might be in the same situation.

Did admissions say they were done sending out the acceptances for this month?

Wait so no one has seen a portal update today, only getting this info from calling? Mine is still in the forwarded state...

I also just called. If you've been rejected, it was sent out. If you're still on "forwarded", you've been deferred.

Thanks. Confused as to why some people get the deferred status change and others don't but oh well..

If deferred, do you think it would be worthwhile to send a LOI to Illinois? The thing is I am OOS, so would need Chicago placement and the tuition lowered to around 65k (which I heard Illinois does frequently). So I am unsure if i should send a LOI with those conditions in mind.

I just called. They said the next committee meeting is 2/7 so decisions will go out 2/8 and 2/11. Kinda sounds like if we haven't heard by now, we're deferred to the next meeting

Mine says forwarded to admission committee. Interviewed back in late oct. Idk if the words admission and screening make a difference.

What does this mean for our chances then? Also, the office said on Friday that they would still be updating portals throughout today. Is there any hope of hearing back today then?

I also called today and she said all acceptances got sent out Friday (same thing happened last wave). She said if you still have "Forwarded to admissions committee" status it's a deferral.

I got the deferred email and my portal updated to deferred status on Friday. I think there might be some confusion about what deferred means. I called today and this is my understanding from what I was told:
People whose portals haven't updated and still say "forwarded" aren't "deferred" - the committee hasn't reviewed them yet. This is different from receiving an update that says deferred which means the committee has looked at your file and decided to defer the decision to a later date (February). So even though these two options have the same set of possible outcomes - finding out about acceptance, rejection, or (further) deferral in February - they aren't the same thing. Presumably those who have received a deferral rather than remaining "forwarded" have a lower chance of receiving an acceptance.

    Some unknowns:
-The order that files are being reviewed and decisions communicated (and what this says about competitiveness)
-If rejections are sent out only on April 30 or if they're sent out before then
-What your chances are once you're deferred

UIC admissions got more twists than an M Night Shyamalan movie, this is wild.

thanks so much for that! i wonder now if the "forwarded" people will then get their files looked at prior to february. if not, then this could bring up the question of if every remaining file get looked at in february. otherwise, those unfortunate souls will have to wait until march, which seems ridiculous.

Wow I interviewed in September and they haven’t even read my file yet? This has to be by far the most disorganized school I’ve applied to. At this point when would I even hear about campus placement?

Forwarded to screening committee is pre-interview, forwarded to admissions committee is post-interview

Heads up for those accepted in October- Just saw my campus assignment on the applicant portal. It’s listed on the home page beneath your campus preferences.

Best of luck to you guys!

Good to know about how long we can expect to hear about campus placement! When and how (email vs mail) did you received additional info after your initial acceptance? Like about immunizations, proof of graduation, etc.?

Do you guys think this is a silent rejection at this point? Doesn't UIC end interviews in Feb? :(

So far, I only got an email telling me how to set up my UIC portal and letting me know the campus assignment was updated. Haven't gotten any other information so far.

They supposedly meet monthly and the next meeting is Feb 7 (according to the admissions director). She said the earliest anyone in that batch would hear back is the next day when she manually enters decisions in. But idk which interview dates were in the batch or anything beyond that.

It’s a joke, they told everyone who interviewed back in October that we’d hear back in December, then January, and now it got pushed back to February. Take a look at older posts in this thread. I wouldn’t expect a decision for your interview for a looooong time
