Confused?, so if you interviewed in September and haven't heard, is that bad news? That's kinda what it sounds like everyone is saying.

Is that bad news if you interviewed in September and haven't heard? Sounds like they move on to the next group of candidates.

I interviewed September 14th and still haven't heard anything either. There is always that saying that "No news is good news," so I would just try to hold that in your mind and be patient. After all, there is nothing else we can really do. I think that some candidates get accepted very quickly because their credentials/metrics qualify them immediately, and so the adcom doesn't really need to deliberate on their application nearly as much. But there is still a lot of time left for them to make a decision on applications.

I agree. This is the beginning of a 6 month long process. Patience and more patience.

    They have rolling admissions.
The first wave of acceptances didn't come out until November 30th

I suspect perhaps they are filling in IS seats first then giving the leftovers to OOS.

I remember at my interview the admissions dean mentioned that everyone here has ties to Las Vegas. I didn't have any ties whatsoever. Most likely we are toast.

Just curious - has anyone been able to get ahold of the admissions office? They’ve never answered when I call but I feel silly emailing them with a quick question

Interviewed mid-September. OOS (AZ) with ties. Still silence. Oh well, at least I got a honey baked ham lunch out of it.

10/12 interview. No ties (CA). Silence. Is there any point where we will be able to update them of our activities since July?

At the interview they said they don't want to know about any updates unless you cure cancer or score the lead on a Broadway show or something. So I would guess not.

Hmmm at my interview they said because of traffic rules/lack of access to the acceptance report they'll try to focus on selecting students who really, really want to attend the school and we can send emails of intent or something like that. Anyone else heard the same? Maybe I was hallucinating lol

Can anyone speak to their confidence or apprehensions about attending/plans to attend an unaccredited institution? I would really appreciate it!

Does anyone know when/how the next round of phone calls will be made? Are they still calling at the end of each month or is it now a case-by-case basis?

While I have not been accepted and am by no means an expert, judging by everything that I researched, I think the school is a safe bet. For sure they will have growing pains, but I don't think being an unaccredited, young school is too much of an issue.

    1) They seem to be making great progress on becoming officially accreditated
    2) They are affiliated with a public research university and the Nevada System of Higher Education
    3) UNLV holds all Las Vegas residencies and fellowships previously held by Reno
    4) All of the faculty and staff seem very student-focused and personable
    5) More attention and energy are given to these small, early classes to succeed
    6) At the end of the day, it is still a US MD-granting medical school

The institution is accredited. Check the LCME directory of accredited programs.

What is confusing is the LCME has a three tiered accreditation process: preliminary, then provisional, then full. A new medical school has to get preliminary accreditation to open and accept students.

Not sure. I think they send mass Rs at the end of the cycle (pre and post II). Interviews end in February.

Gotcha. I've probably already been rejected and will just find out then. Can't imagine they're sending very many IIs out, if any, at this point

I have not heard of or seen anything since the first round went out in November either even though I thought the next round was supposed to be the end of December.

Someone earlier in this thread reported an acceptance on December 13th. With that said, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of another round of acceptances going out this week if not sometime before the end of the month.
