I am also waiting...just not patiently
I had my interviews on 11/2. My experiences are nothing but positive. I am happy to answer any question you have!
Could you DM me please- I cant start a personal conversation with you due to privacy settings
I will do it tonight after I get home from work
Awesome! Thank you !
I'm starting to get worried as I haven't received an interview from here yet. Lizzy score of 71, submitted late July. I've gotten interview from McGovern/ El Paso but nowhere else. Does anyone know if they've finished filling their interview dates yet?
a lot of IIs go out in November.
Hanging there. I waited two months between the first interview invite and the second one. Then the third one came in a day after the second one! Have faith in this process! Good luck
Also getting really anxious I've gotten IIs to just one TX med school (im a resident) with
lizzym of 69 really hoping i get one from utmb before i lose all hope in myself sigh
Samee this process is really discouraging but we still have time!!!!
When did your app transmit?
app transmitted third week of July
At least you have one interview. I submitted 6/27 and still no interviews. 68.6. I’ve already started studying for the MCAT. My 510 is not going to do it. Also spending the gap year volunteering at least 25 hours a week. I guess next step is a business degree. I interviewed at UTMB last year and nothing this year. Now that’s anxious.
since you interviewed here last cycle, do you happen to know roughly what percent of interviews lead to acceptances?
What was/is your GPA? How’re you not getting more buzz with a 510?????
Nooo don't lose hope a 510 is great!! We just gotta keep ourselves busy and try not to get too discouraged but I def know the feeling. Feel free to DM if you need someone to talk to this process can be grueling
3.76 Biomedical Science degree last May.
No I don’t.
Damnnnnn. Wth, how do you not have ANY interviews? Did you apply to TCOM? Btw, why did you put “68.6” on your top post, shouldn’t a 510 and a 3.76 GPA give you a much higher
LizzyM? Are you a ORM? Did you interview anywhere except UTMB last year?
Its about right
510 with 3.76 is a 68.6. I did apply to TCOM, and I was waitlisted for UTMB last year. ORM Male. Honestly, I didn’t have any ECs. I’m pretty boring. Too much sports. Since submitting app, got my EMT with clinal hours and now volunteering as much as they need me for an equine therapy program for individuals with various medical conditions. Next year, I’ll apply TMDSAS and all the DO schools. I’m shooting for a 516 on the March MCAT. The next cycle comes around fast. I can’t just wait on IIs. Good luck to you!
I feel you man, that is rough. Best of luck to you as well, I don’t know what these ADCOMS are really looking for tbh. Never seems consistent on any front. An arm and a leg maybe? Geeze
Maybe I could donate a kidney
Having just been accepted and also a reapplicant I can tell you that you are heading in the right direction. Just keep at it and you'll get in next year for sure. That 516 will definitely help!
Did you apply early decision or to a special program? What happened in your case with the initial and now current cycle.
Also does anyone know at all if any Texas schools superscore MCATS at all?
Thanks for the encouragement. I really haven’t seriously studied for the MCAT. I took it once cold. 497. Then studied a week 508. Then did Princeton Review for a couple of months 510. This time, digging into Kaplan for 5 months. Hopefully I knock it out of the park.
No I didn’t. If you do early decision aren’t you limited to one applying to one school? What does superstore MCATs mean?
Superscoring is done by colleges sometimes for SAT or ACT, taking the best section score across multiple test dates. I have never heard of a med school doing this. Med schools might average MCAT scores or focus on the best one.
There’s actually several Med schools in the United states that superscore. Look it up (GW, BostonUSOM, East Carolina SOM). I just don’t know if any TX schools do it because some don’t list how they look at several MCATs.
I asked the other guy how he is accepted already since PreMatch doesn’t go out till next week.
I pretty much post on Texas school threads, so yeah. I didn't search all the med schools.
I applied OOS. They interviewed me two weeks ago and I got in within a week. It just so happened they had their adcom meeting the friday after my interview. And compared to last cycle it was really about just applying to more schools, being a better interviewee and beefing up my app.
We sound extremely similar. MCAT 513, a lot of volunteering, now an EMT and zero II's. Will be preparing for next cycle and adding DO's as well. Kinda depressing.
3.5 with a double science major
When did you have your primary and secondaries all in by for TX schools?
Are you IS too? Also, I didn’t go through the committee packet process. That may be the downfall. I also graduated from one of the two largest schools in Texas. They aren’t even showing me any love.
Where did you get accepted?
IS with committee packet
ALL secondaries submitted by July 15
I have the same Mcat score and GPA. The only thing I have that is different from yours is that I have more clinical experience and am older. You are a very good candidate! Don't lose hope, the cycle isn't over yet.
40% I think, but I could be wrong. Look at their admission profile online, they tell you how many people they interview and send out offers to
LSU New Orleans
Good luck to you!
you guys have solid stats. Maybe consider applying to DO schools. And with those stats I think maybe you're lacking in ECs? or perhaps your essays need improvement? I have friends get into Tx MD schools with 3.7ish gpa and 502-506 MCAT.
UTMB has the option to do clinicals in Austin, right?
I think since Dell was established they have stopped doing that. They told us they do rotations in Texas City and a small East Texas city I forget the name of.
When does this school stop sending out IIs?
They also do some clinicals in Houston and Tyler (population 100,000)
