Hi everyone!
Please help me solidify my school list. I'm thinking of applying to 27-30 schools. Let me know if I should add any or remove some. My GPA is low while my MCAT is high-ish, so I'm having a difficult time finding schools that fit within my stats. I'm an ORM and I'm from Nebraska.
GPA: 3.63 (with upwards trend ~3.9-4.0 my last three semesters of college)
MCAT: 517 (130/129/128/130)
School: Top Public University
Clinical Volunteering: ~300 hours volunteering in a clinic at an underserved area, ~100 additional hours through a student org.
Non-clinical Volunteer: ~200 hours, plus I am planning to do a year of service through City Year which should be around ~1700 hours
Shadowing: 60+ multiple specialties
Research: 1 year clinical research with a poster symposium, and wrote an honors thesis for my research in English (I don't know how relevant this would be)
Leadership: led a service trip to an HIV/AIDs facility (co-chair), chair of a multicultural council at my uni (nominated for an award), was on the executive board for my literary magazine, diversity recruitment chair for my school's newspaper, chair of multiple positions for my service fraternity
Miscellaneous: a narrative of being involved with writing—various writing orgs (published news articles and creative short stories), English major, and conducted a research project as a peer tutor for my uni.
Other: jobs as a Community Center Assistant and Summer Conference Assistant for my university
Gap Year: City Year (~1700 hours)
1. Vanderbilt
2. Ichan
3. Weil
4. USC
5. Michigan
6. Dartmouth
7. Emory
8. Pittsburg
9. University of Colorado
10. University of Iowa
11. University of Rochester
12. University of Cincinnati
13. Albert Einstein
14. Ohio State
15. Thomas Jefferson
16. University of Nebraska Medical Center
17. Creighton
18. Temple
19. Quinnipiac
20. St. Louis
21. Medical College Wisconsin
