My assumption is they were making a joke by saying hold as in "hold the line (or door)". Not that they received a hold. Could be wrong though lol.

I think I remember seeing that people get out on holds in this thread

It most likely was an active hold like the one I've been on since end-October, lol.

Did anyone who interviewed the first week of March hear anything today?

Accepted! Interview: Feb 10th, Hold March 11th, Accepted March 25th. For those still waiting, I wish you the best - I know how excruciating it is to wait. For those accepted and attending, see you in July!

Does anyone know whether ETSU is sending rejections by email or snail mail this year?

Rejections by email I think. My brother received his rejection pre-II by email. I'm also kind of curious as to what they will decide to do with people like me who have been on the active hold since end-October. I really don't know if that is a bad thing or a good thing but at this point, I've moved on to hoping for better outcomes at my other schools.

Hey everyone! I just pulled my name from interviews next week (4/7), so there is a spot open now! Email admissions if you haven't received an II yet and maybe they will give one of ya'll my spot.

Good luck!

Does anyone know when the next committee meeting is? I heard the 15th but I have a friend who just received an interview for that day. I wasn’t sure if the committee would be able to do interviews and meet on the same day.

Does anyone know the update on VITA for ETSU?? I received a last min II and the emails from Anthony Walls have said nothing about completing VITA but I received the AAMC VITA invitation.
I would go ahead and complete it via AAMC. ETSU should receive it after you submit it on there, if this is your first VITA. You only need one done I believe.

I interviewed in early March and they told us it is still required. They will not review your application until they get it so I would go ahead and get it done ASAP.

Yesterday they told us that the next meeting is on the 15th. They also said the members of the admissions committee and the people doing the interviews are separate, so it's definitely possible.

Do any current students have insight into about how long the hold list is, how much movement we should expect off of it at this point in the cycle, and/or whether we should expect movement at all until after April?

Me too. Wondering how much longer we can hold when everyone is suppose to decide by April 30th? Is active hold not just wait list at this point???

I am seeing it as essentially a waitlist, but their website says they will potentially terminate your hold. So its like a non-ghosting waitlist. Looking at their stats page, they have 86 seats accepted, which imo indicates that they are holding people since they don't really have seats atm.

Okay awesome that’s sort of what I was getting from it as well. Thanks so much!

R today at 3pm.
This doesn’t define anything! You are a great and supportive individual! I recognize your username because you always are so supportive of everyone! You will be an amazing doctor even if it isn’t at this school! You are incredible! I hope you always remember this! 😊💕

Aw, thanks so much for saying that! I’ve been feeling pretty bummed, but your comment definitely made me feel better. Good luck with the rest of the cycle!

Does anyone know the next committee meeting date? Is it the 30th?
I interviewed mid-March and still haven’t heard anything.

I hope they update their interview tracker before the meeting next week. I would love to know if there are any seats becoming available as April 30th approaches!

Did y'all get a response when you submitted thank you letters for your interviewers? I sent them to Anthony the day after my interview but never got any confirmation that he received them.

They actually just updated it this evening!

Just saw that too! What are your thoughts on the numbers? 84 already accepted??? That’s scary haha.
Wasn't it something like 86 before? So hasn't really gone down substantially at all. Or was it higher, already forgot lol

Also, realistically, how many people wait until the very last moment (4/30) to decide which school they are going to? Would we guess the majority or most at this point have already narrowed it down? If they're only trying to fill 79 seats, they must be expecting that historically at this point in the cycle they're yet to lost at least 5 more people right?

i took a screenshot to compare. They have 2 less overall accepted offers but 4 more offers extended since the 3/22 numbers.

I think they’ll definitely still be some movement! After the 30th, waitlists will move at all schools. There’s a decent chance that at least a few people that are accepted to Quillen will get off a waitlist at another school and will give up their acceptance at Quillen. Also, after looking at what I had wrote down from the tracker last year, this is about where Quillen was at acceptance wise then.
Last year, Quillen accepted 17 people between April 17th and June 22 even though they were over enrolled by 5 on April 17th. So this year is not any different from past cycles and there is still some hope.
With that said, the majority of movement most likely won’t happen next week but instead the 1st few weeks of May while students on different waitlists get shuffled around.
