2020-2021 Tulane

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am non-ED and my application was marked "complete" on 8/6 and I still have that "red" circle thing next to "In Progress". Anyone else in a similar boat?

It means they have received your application in full. However, you are NOT under review yet (i.e. the Adcoms have not opened your file to assess your merit for an interview). You will get another email that will say your file is under review and the red exclamation mark will become a green check mark.

How long has it taken for most people for that red circle to turn green? I submitted on the 11 of September

Took me about two months.

They're already scheduling interviews into February reportedly...

1 month. But I submitted in mid-July.

interviewing in december, but i'm curious what is the post-ii rate like? ~~~ cheers

Check MSAR. It says there 🙂
MSAR reveals matriculant data, not acceptance data. They likely accept double that with significant movement until distilled to the matriculant list. Tulane is not on @TheDataKing's Post-II A spreadsheet (found in their signature on the first post of this thread)...so....¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If they interview ~600, for a class of 190, good chance they accept 300-400?

yup this is true. You can guestimate that it's probs around 2x the number of students in the class but we really don't know. MSAR doesn't paint a full picture and they refuse to give UNSWR their data

Just got an email saying they were “forced not to give out an II to many exceptional students” 🙁
If you are under review now I am sorry but it sounds like an R... from personal experiences.

Quoting my R from two years ago,

It is with much regret that we inform you that your application has been reviewed and we will not be able to interview you for the Tulane University School of Medicine incoming Class of 2019. This is a disappointment, almost as much for those who are responsible for the decision as it may be for you, the applicant who is turned away.

Most of the applicants we reviewed this year are incredibly well qualified for medical school and are likely to make important contributions the medical profession. Sadly, with more than 12,000 applicants for 190 spots, we are forced to not offer interviews to many exceptional people. Due to the large volume of applications, we cannot advise you regarding your application. We hope that you receive an acceptance to a medical school of your choice and that both success and happiness will be yours as you continue your training. Please accept our best wishes for all your future endeavors.

can someone explain why? i dont want to go through 20 pages of sdn threads. did tulane send out ALL its II already?

did they send all II already ?

IIs are being scheudled into February at this point. There are probably few spots left which makes their selection criteria more rigorous. I would think more slots will open at the end of this month when people start recieving their first As and releasing their interviews at other schools, Tulane included. Of course this is all just conjecture and my two cents!

did they send all II already ?
No, its unlikely that all II went out already. There was a misunderstanding from an R email that it may have gone out to all students, but it did not. I will say chances of II from Tulane after their initial wave of II are quite low. In previous years, they send out a HUGE first wave of them but then the remaining IIs that they send are intermittent and sparse. They are known for their 'rolling' process and if you look back a few pages, you'll see when the tsunami hit.

Yes, this person has received an R email 🙁. However, I will say after October 15th, another wave of interviews usually go out (although not as large as the original). People get into their top choice and drop all other interviews. We can keep holding on.

I submitted in August and don't think Ill even be under review by oct 15 lol

In previous years it was actually a bit closer to December I believe for the second small wave

Yeah, I should have rephrased. They slowly trickle in late November and right before Christmas break I think, but this year could be different.

I just got the email that my application is complete and under review and I will be hearing from them once a decision is made. I submitted late July with a LM of 78. Is this the soft R email that people are discussing?

No, that means they're going to review your application and decide on II/R/hold. Same one I got before they reviewed mine. It seems thats a different rejection email? not totally sure, but they aren't the same

It's like we're all slowly being led to the mass slaughterhouse.

So confused about where I stand with this school, got my "under review" email on 8/17 and haven't heard anything since. My portal still says "In Progress." Should I count myself out?
