I'm enrolled in UT Austin and will be attending it this fall with a biology major for pre-med.
However:
1. I heard that there are a lack of clinical volunteering and research opportunities due to the large pre-med student population there. Should I consider transferring to another college than UT to improve my chances of acceptance into medical school?
2. I have also read about deflated GPAs in UT Austin; as someone in the top 10 and A Honor Roll in school, I am wondering how difficult it would be to maintain a sufficiently high GPA in UT.
3. I heard that an under-grad in biology is pretty common. Should I change my major to something more specific like cell/molecular biology, human biology, or genetics/genomics to make it stand out more?
