What’s the best way to send updates? I don’t recall any portal for doing so in the initial emails
for those of you who are planning on housing stuff right now, when are you trying to move to campus? I want to travel abroad to visit family a bit before moving, is beginning of july too late? not sure how leases around the area work, would love insight from those already attending.
I moved in the weekend before orientation started. Around July 10th I think, that’s when most people moved in. Also check out this post, I wrote about where to live and stuff. Read this: 2021-2022 Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (Kansas City) KCU-COMThis, plus, where should we be looking? Thoughts on century towers vs the River Market area vs other places?
I think the response time is ~6 weeks post-interview. Could have changed from when I interviewed last year.I'm not an applicant, but I know someone who interviewed here in late November and still has not heard back. Just wondering, are there anyone still in the same situation? From what I can remember back when I interviewed almost 4 years ago, they got back to me in less than a month.
I got reply in 2 weeks, WL after 12/3 ii.I think the response time is ~6 weeks post-interview. Could have changed from when I interviewed last year.
Weird! I guess I'll tell them to reach out to admissions and see what's going on. I originally told them to wait, but if you're right, they may have passed them over or there's a miss communication somewhere.I got reply in 2 weeks, WL after 12/3 ii.
Congrats Dreamy! You deserve it, this cycle has been rough! Prepare well and go kill it!!II like 25 mins ago. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST II.
I was taking a nap, and heard a ting. This ting was worth it because it woke me up, and I can't STOP smiling for the past 30 minutes. To those who interviewed, any feedback and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Stats: 3.3-3.4 gpa and MCAT 508
I was on THE QUALIFIED LIST IN OCTOBER IF THIS GIVES HOPE TO THE ONES ON THE LIST!!!! <3
Thank you so much! I am still shook about it, and I appreciate you reaching out back in late Dec. Every person on I've been on SDN are so wholesome, and I wish everyone As. <3Congrats Dreamy! You deserve it, this cycle has been rough! Prepare well and go kill it!!
I sent mine 2+ weeks later and was accepted.Hi everyone, I had my interview last Tuesday (Jan 25th) I only just now sent my thank you letters. Is that bad?!? I know you're supposed to send them the same day but sending them a few days later isn't too bad right?
I didn't send any Thank you cards honestly. Don't worry about sending them late.Hi everyone, I had my interview last Tuesday (Jan 25th) I only just now sent my thank you letters. Is that bad?!? I know you're supposed to send them the same day but sending them a few days later isn't too bad right?
Census here is practice traditional DO Qs (tell us about yourself, why MD, why DO, and why KCU?) and practice ethical scenarios. Best to have a friend ask you these Q's and record your responses and time it because there are only 10 minutes, it's important to hit your main points during that one sesh of 10 mins.Got an II invite yesterday! From this thread it looks like a lot of people have already been accepted, so definitely adds to the nerves! I know we sign a NDA but any general last minute interview tips for KCU?
You're right I'm just overthinking it! Yes that's what I've seen on this thread too, thanks!!Census here is practice traditional DO Qs (tell us about yourself, why MD, why DO, and why KCU?) and practice ethical scenarios. I feel like if they are sending IIs, I am assuming there are spots left???
I had mine last week and I basically practiced the standard questions that people get asked in interviews like @dreamYY said and looked through the SDN KCU interview questions. Honestly, it was such a chill interview session. Which I didn't think was possible because I was all nerves going into it but the interviewers are super personable and I enjoyed talking to them. You're right I'm just overthinking it! Thanks for the info. I toured CT after my interview. Not great and KCU security told us not to move there. I like the idea of being so close but worried about the neighborhood. Anyone else hear anything?I moved into my apartment the weekend before orientation started so around July 9th. I know some people that moved a little earlier than that but most of my friends here at KCU moved sometime in early July and some in late June. You've got time!
CT is okay, I've heard pretty good things from my friends over at River Market, it can just get pretty pricey unless you get a roommate. North KC is another good spot with not that bad of a commute (I currently live here). I know some people also live in Overland Park and some in Lee's Summit, but those are a bit of a drive.
I personally wouldnt live in CT just cause it is so close to campus and I like to have a "break" from school vs living. I live in the River Market- which is literally a 3 min drive from campus and a much nicer area (although a little pricier). If you want to be able to go for a walk in the area, be comfortable walking around at night, etc- CT isnt the area. Thanks for the info. I toured CT after my interview. I live in Courtyard at Maple which is literally attached to school. You're valid in your concern for the neighborhood but security does a good job at keeping you safe. We also have an app that tracks you as you walk back home but we all walk with our buddies or in the daytime. Thanks for the info. I toured CT after my interview. Do most students have cars at KCU?I personally wouldnt live in CT just cause it is so close to campus and I like to have a "break" from school vs living. Yes. And you’ll need one for sure during M3/4Do most students have cars at KCU?
It's convenient to have it M1 and 2 too.Do most students have cars at KCU?
YES- unless you live at CT I think theres a few without cars. But KC is def one of those cities you need a car. and rotations to echo aboveDo most students have cars at KCU?
Also what size?I have a question for any first year students... Which iPad did they give you at orientation? Did it come with the Apple Pencil and case or did you buy those separately? Thanks!!
I forget which version they gave you but they don't give you a case or pencil. You gotta buy those on your ownI have a question for any first year students... Which iPad did they give you at orientation? Did it come with the Apple Pencil and case or did you buy those separately? Thanks!!
it's the newest one- not the pro tho. doesnt come with apple pencil/anything. Just get the Ipad. Some students traded theirs in for the bigger oneI have a question for any first year students... Like the general 9th generation iPad? Or the iPad Air?i

We (c/o 2024) got the iPad 2019 model so the 7th gen, if I had to guess your class is probably getting the 9th gen since it's the 2021 model as they order them in bulk prior to the class orientation. It is the regular, non-pro oneLike the general 9th generation iPad? Or the iPad Air?
KCU pulls students from each interview cohort if I remember correctly, so each interview cohort has a chance for acceptances. Best of luck!I had my interview today, it was laid back and chill like everyone said. I feel like I could've done better, but it was overall alright and don't really also know what to make of it. LOL
This program is really my top choice, and hoping there are spots left considering they interviewed like 80 students this week.
I'm feeling exactly the same way! I can't imagine that post II acceptance to be upwards of 70% if this is the volume of interviewees. But we obviously have no idea at all, and there are around 450 seats!! Fingers crossed for everyone !!! Out of further curiosity, does anyone know if the interview is THE deciding factor or if it is simply scored by the multiple interviewers and then just added to the file to be reviewed holistically again. Like is it possible you have a great interview and don't get in and vice versa?I had my interview today, it was laid back and chill like everyone said. I have read previous threads, some did not feel great about the interview and still got in. Perhaps, they were alright and are great interviewers and/or the process is holistic and they really consider every aspect to make the decision.I'm feeling exactly the same way! Very good point. We can only control so much. Hate that the waiting game is potentially so long but again, what else can we really do but hope.I have read previous threads, some did not feel great about the interview and still got in. I personally feel like my interview wasn't the best because it was my first and I was thrown off a little by the Qs. But I am not going to analyze something that I have no control of at this point, and just hope for the best. lol
OMG I agree, 4-6 weeks so long lolVery good point. We can only control so much. Hate that the waiting game is potentially so long but again, what else can we really do but hope.
No I def don’t think so. I was waitlisted last year, got the WL email in March? And submitted an LOI in April or may, then added another rec letter from a mentor to my file in June and got off the WL in June. I posted about it on either this thread or Joplin thread my whole process. Not sure if any of it was “the reason” but either way it’s not too late. They likely won’t start pulling from the WL till late may/early june.I am waitlisted and KCU was my top choice, but I wanted to tour my accepted school and KCU before I submit my LOI. However, the next available tour for the KCU campus is mid April. Do you think that’s too late to submit a letter of intent?
Not at all! I got one too a few weeks after I was accepted so I presume there is no specifics of who gets that emailSubmitted secondary in like August and have had complete silence (besides receiving the qualified email), except I keep receiving emails about joining their Master's program? Anybody else in the same boat? Is this like a subtle rejection lol
I interviewed 1/11 and haven’t heard yet eitherHas anybody who interviewed 1/19 heard anything yet?
