yes thats why true P/F clinical years are amazing, very few schools have this, no DO schools, mostly top-end MD schools. It allows you to focus on learning from the rotation and figuring out if it is the correct specialty for you rather than trying to figure out how to please/impress your attendings (aka, offering to stay late when there is very little educational value, asking extra questions to "show interest", buying attendings gifts at the end of rotations, etc - not saying you can't do this if you genuinely want to) while studying for a shelf exam (which makes up 30% of your clerkship grade @ western. differs program to program)
Its a lot easier to get a P in P/F than H in F, P, HP, H system.
