2023-2024 UC San Francisco

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I feel like this was asked already but I cannot find it. Does anyone know if UCSF actually wants 4 credits of biochem? My course was only 3, so I'm not sure whether I should sign up for a lab or not.
On the admissions website, it says one semester or one quarter of college level biochemistry... I already graduated and only have 3 credits (one semester) of biochem at my undergrad and I received an II, so I think 3 credits should be enough!

I scheduled my JMP interview recently. There was not an option to schedule a separate day for a UCSF interview. Both programs said they would like to interview me, and JMP's website says the interviews for both programs are different. Does anyone know if I need to schedule a separate day too/ should reach out to admissions? Or are the interviews on the same day? I also did not receive an interview time, is this released closer to the date?

For those that have interviewed, when do you get the schedule? Also, how many interviews are there?

Did you receive two separate interview invite emails or one email?

From their website:
"You will receive Zoom meeting information the business day before your interview and will receive the schedule for the day by no later than 8:30 am Pacific Time on your interview day.
Whenever possible, you will be scheduled for two interviews. Interviewers will include either two faculty members or one faculty member and one medical student. The average interview lasts 40 minutes but varies according to individual interviewers and applicants."

I was literally thinking the same thing. Half of these guys have Harvard IIs lol. The cycle is insane man.
It also is a testament to their strength as an applicant: they were fast-tracked for consideration and ultimately decided against, probably for diversity reasons since UCSF is a primary care school as well as a research powerhouse. Maybe, in comparing applicants, these guys got beat by toastedbutter and pablo213.

Is anyone else still hoping for a secondary? I was only verified on Sept 29.

In state Secondary Invite just now, should I bother submitting tho?? Or is it a giveaway Lizzy M 69

I'm living in a nightmare.. I submitted the secondary on 10/18 but I JUST noticed I'm not complete because they never got my letters from AMCAS. Shoot. I sent them just now when I noticed, but should I email them?? I know UCSF has a later cycle but realistically how much does this destroy my chances? Any help is appreciated.

I think it depends on when you got the secondary invitation. They have a strict 4 week due date to complete the application. As long as you received your secondary invite after 10/1 you should be fine.

Thank you so much. I received the invite 10/5, but I wasn’t sure bc they say 4 weeks in one place and 2 weeks in another. Did anyone else notice that?

I also realized the portal says my letters were received back in September like I originally thought! But my app still hasn’t been marked complete so I guess I should call/email. Anyway, thanks again.

I mainly interpreted it as you needed to have the secondary prompts complete and submitted in 2 weeks, but your entire application(payments, LORs, etc) need to be complete in 4 weeks. Either way, I think you’re good. Make sure you actually submitted your secondary though and send a call/email if need be!

I wasn’t aware of any 2 week deadline, even the secondary email itself said 4 weeks…. I submitted mine in ~3 weeks and it still let me, if that counts for anything

Oh, I see now that ig does say 2 weeks in the portal. I just went by the initial email and thought I was fine. I really hope I’m still being considered—they did confirm the receipt of my application but I’m not sure if that necessarily means they won’t just throw my app in the trash, lol

Dang, same here..

I also thought the deadline was 4 weeks in general but just got lucky that I happened to turn in my secondary on the 14th day smh...

Yeah, has anyone waited out the four weeks/decided not to apply with a secondary? Maybe they could tell us if the system locked them out at 4 weeks!
