Any one with mid august completion date that have received II recently?

I saw a bunch of pre II rejections for July/Aug, is there still hope for receiving an II.

^^^ if I was complete 8/01 should I assume a pre II R at this point?

i was also complete mid august. according to an interview with the dean of admissions, they reject the bottom 60% upfront, interview the top 20% and hold onto that middle 20%. if you look at admit.org the numbers pretty much align so far. it's possible you fall in that middle category (this is what I'm thinking for myself but who knows)

thanks for replying! this is really helpful. i’m not doing research during my gap year so my only updates will be from my clinical employment. were your updates research?

also do you feel that most people in your class have pre-existing connections to BU/Boston? this might just be anecdotal but i’ve noticed bu med has a lot of its own undergraduates/masters students
my updates were mostly research-based, but honestly, bu appreciates any form of engagement that shows you're still invested and interested in their program. just keep them updated on your clinical experience, and let them know bu is still top of mind. no need to stress—when it’s time, you’ll have plenty to share.

as for connections, there are definitely some. around 30 of my classmates did mams (the master’s in medical sciences program), about 10 came through smed (the 7-year undergrad + medical program), and maybe another 10 or so did undergrad at bu. but that said, many of us came in without any prior ties to bu or boston. what really stands out to bu, though, is their commitment to social justice. they’re big on selecting students who are passionate about serving marginalized communities and driving change in healthcare. if that aligns with your values and you can bring that focus into your application, it’ll be a great fit with bu’s mission and priorities.

yep, the busm merch is definitely lacking. the bookstore barely has any busm options either. our student government has a temporary online merch store, but it only has patagonia-style items, not the typical sweatshirts or t-shirts.

one of our classmates actually made his own busm merch on etsy that’s way better-looking and more affordable. i'd definitely check that out if you’re after something more unique and budget-friendly

…should i get in…

OOS Pre-II R, complete late August.

Good luck everyone’

Hey all! I have an OOS II next week, with the informational sessions on this Wednesday. For those who have done the informational sessions, what's the dress code like? Should I do a suit like my interview? Thank you!

YMMV but I wore something casual and felt a bit underdressed haha. Most people were in at least business casual to full on interview attire for the dean’s info session. The student info session was way more casual tho!

Hey guys! I'm interviewing on Nov 25th, and I was curious if anyone knew whether there was a chance I might be in the December decision cycle? I'm 99% that this is not the case, but wanted to see if anyone knew of someone who had interviewed late Nov and still heard back in Dec. Based off CycleTrack, it looks like there's a lot less acceptances in the second wave.

I don’t think you’ll be in the December decision, but in the past a lot of the people who interviewed in the first “wave” ended up getting deferred to the march decision date anyways. I think the dean said they do most of their acceptances in march so I wouldn’t rely on cycle track with this one

That makes sense, thanks so much!

I was planning on sending a LOI/mixed as an update letter to the BU portal. I have also read about people thinking waiting until initial decisions in December (ie. rejected, deferred or accepted). Is this a good strategy or should I just send it now? For context, the updates are a new job and a paper accepted for publication in a journal. Also this and Wake are my only two interviews (waitlisted at Wake)

does anyone know if BU is receptive to multiple update letters/letters of interest? i already sent one last month (which was one month after my interview), and i was wondering if sending another one would influence their final decision... i wouldn't have any significant updates, would just express my interest. i was also accepted to other schools, so could i potentially talk about this and how BUSM is still my top choice? TYY

also on that note, does anyone know when the admissions committee is meeting to make decisions? i know last year it was on Nov 29th. anyone hear dean goodell drop info?
Is this what you were asking?
"The first round of decisions is expected to go out in late December or early January, and the second in early March. Students who interviewed Sept - early Nov should expect to hear from us in December. Interviews conducted in late Nov - Feb will hear from us in March. "

no but thanks! i was actually asking what date the committee meets. in the past years/on podcasts, dean goodell has said they meet on a specific day in late november to make decisions. so by early dec our fates are already decided it seems
If you have an update that you want in your file when they review things, now would be the time

additionally, for those of u who interviewed and then submitted updates. the drop down has update letter and interview follow-up - which one did you select for an update and continued interest letter?

and should we wait until the first round of decisions to send a letter of intent? can any current students/past applicants chime in if possible pleaseeeee

do you think it's an R for me at this point if I was complete 7/31 and no news since

Similar boat (7/26 complete) and I think it’s a good sign, for now. I don’t believe in the “no news is good news” phrase, but in this case, most people have been rejected already, so it actually is good news.

I am just a fellow applicant so i could be very wrong..but! BUSM goes on winter break starting 12/21 and they have traditionally released it before then. so i wouldnt be surprised if calls start rolling out the 16th-20th. PLUS on msar it says earliest decision day is 12/15. so i have a good feeling about that week
do you know if everyone that is accepted gets a call before the email decisions?

My doctor/boss offered to write me a letter to BU on my behalf (after my interview). I know decisions probably come out soon but who should he send this too. the admissions email? My interviewers email? Upload it to portal?

+1 OOS II, done mid-august. Some questions:

1) Are invites during 2nd wave seen as any less than those in the 1st wave?
2) Can you get accepted by late December if you're interviewed in the 2nd wave or do your decisions come out in March?

Where did you get this quote from?

1) I was on the dean's info session last week and she said there's no difference, however on an interview the dean had done with Accepted.com they had said that they send out invites to the top 20% first, so I'm not totally sure. I'm in the same boat lol.

2) If you interview late November to February, you find out in March
