I just got an email letting me know that KCU scholarship applications have been uploaded to my portal for me to complete. I was wondering if answering these questions and submitting the application automatically means I've accepted my acceptance offer to this school even if I haven't yet paid my deposit?

No I don’t think it does but I contacted admissions and they said they won’t give out as scholarships till December/January

Does anyone know how much they pull from wajtlist? Or is it a lost cause and soft R usually?

Last cycle not a lot opened up off the KC campus. However Joplin campus had more. Don’t feel bummed out, it’s still very early in the cycle, and there will def be waitlist movement at some point. I got in off the waitlist (interviewed in January and then in June I was accepted). I sent updated letters of recommendation from physicians I worked for, as well as a LOI as I knew KCU was my top choice

this is probably so neurotic lol but did anyone get a general email from KCUCOM regarding their Master of Science program? I interviewed and am pending a decision. Don't know if that was just a preparation for an R or if everyone got the email...

I will. Any updates for you?

not sure if this has been answered already, but what are the pros/cons of each campus location? I cant find much about the kansas city campus on their website but the joplin one has an FAQ

Feel free to add anything if any current students has opinions

KC:
Strengths - Big city with more social events
Weakness - Traffic, parking, more expensive

Joplin:
Strengths - Cheaper, live close to school and groceries, newer campus, no traffic
Weakness - Not living in a big city with the concerts and sporting events and social aspect

Both campuses are the same academically. The teachers are the same, KC has about 270 kids and Joplin 160 so size is different but that doesn't have much impact on anything. At the end of the day you get out of it what you put into it. If you want to have fun you will find ways to have fun, if you want to focus more on school than that will happen too.
I agree with those points (although I resent being called a "kid" haha) and I'll add:

KC - pros: you get the full campus experience since it is more than one building, the majority of first year professors are at KC campus (1st year is when you might prefer to go to live lectures), OMM professors are much better (don't even get me started on Dr. Joy in Joplin), in my opinion, we have more fun in KC mostly bc there are more things to do
-cons: crime (car theft/break-ins are common), KC is expensive, there are 3 med schools in the area

Joplin - pros: community is close knit, town is quiet (if you're into that), it's the only med school in town
-cons: there's nothing going on in Joplin, small-town Missouri (interpret that how you like), no major airports nearby

I think you'll have a good educational experience at either campus so to me it really depends on what kind of living environment you prefer

did anyone get accepted at the 3-week mark post interview?
My A was ~3.5 weeks after the interview. In prior posts, some people had acceptances within 1-2 weeks, others received an A later on. Don't stress about it yet!

Hey everyone, would anyone have knowledge of KCUCOM's rotations? I keep hearing mixed things about them, ranging from students having a great time to students feeling screwed over by the school and feeling dissatisfied with the quality of the sites. Also, I would appreciate insight into their in-house residencies and if those offer any advantages. Thanks!

OOS A received at exactly 10 AM this morning. Interview on 10/1. Shocked by the quick turn around!
LizzyM score of 69.
This was my first A. I am dumbstruck. I'm gonna be a doctor!

Has anyone filled out the scholarship application? Do they usually give scholarships normally and how much do they give?

If you selected either campus for preferences, would you only be able to know which campus you got selected after the interview? because my interview invite email does not mention a specific campus.

You will only find out your campus if you get accepted. They basically choose it for you if you selected either campus.

There was a fair bit of waitlist movement my cycle. I know several people in my class that got in off of the waitlist. Keep up hope everyone. You got this.

For current students, there's a prime day sale for stethoscopes right now and I was wondering if I should order a littman cardiology IV or classic III and if it matters? Should I wait since there's more required medical equipment?

are they still giving secondaries? submitted two weeks ago D:

If you want to get a bunch of stuff on sale, go for it. You will use it at KCU or another school if you end up there. Or wait. I got the whole bundle from Amazon and it was around $300 ish if I’m remembering right.

Just to clarify, it looks like what will show on grades for KCU in both pre-clinical and clinical are: H, P, F/P, F right? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I just withdrew my application and on campus interview slot for November 12th. I got accepted elsewhere and dunno if this means someone can change to a sooner spot? I wish everyone luck!

wait…I’m a bit confused after scrolling up and reading older posts I’m seeing that applicants who got invites before me aren’t getting interviews until December/January…however I got an invite today from a faculty member asking me to chose 1 of 3 dates, the soonest being next week. Has this happened to anyone else? It seems like everyone else had to schedule their interview through a portal? I’m so lost
when did you submit your secondary? I submitted mine 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten a reply yet and I'm starting to freak out

I withdrew my interview so I hope it goes to one of you!

That’s correct. To clarify H goes to the top 10 % of the class, and F/P is the grade you would get if you failed the course and then passed the remediation for the course.

I honestly really like the curriculum so far. It’s very intense but I like that you can fail an exam and still pass the block because we have multiple exams per block so you have a chance to redeem yourself. As long as you are 70% or above by the end then you pass. Some courses, the average is also curved.

And to add to this, the core classes (Biochem/anatomy/neuro/etc.) tend to have curves in the 5-7% range. Course like bioethics, our OMT class, doesn’t generally get curved due to students having higher scores. The course average always gets curved to 85%, so as long as you’re within 15% of the class average, you will pass! DM if that was confusing but it’s a great setup 😂

thanks for the information! if you don't mind me asking, would you happen to know if our quartile ranking gets reported on our MSPE letters? if it does is it just those in 1st or 2nd quartile that get reported, or all of them?

I'm filling it out rn (I thought I was done with essays after secondaries 😭). Our student ambassadors implied not a lot of people received scholarships, and from their website it looks like limited amounts.

only 1st and 2nd quartile is indicated on MSPE. If you're 3rd/4th, it's just not listed.
