Are they still sending II? Last time I checked they had interview dates filled up to December

I’m sure they will. Most DO schools interview through mar/April or even May!!!! They may just be hanging on for a bit to conduct interviews and review those files

me and some people who interviewed on 8/13 still haven’t heard back. Radio silence 😞

It’s okay guys be PATIENT! I didn’t get my II with them until November of last year and didn’t interview until January. It’s a long process but remember it’s literally only September and very, very early.

You know what the scariest part about SDN is? According to todays thread- only 3 people out of those interview days got acceptances. That’s grim.

so it looks like two people who interviewed 8/20 reported that they got As on August 26th (last Monday) on this thread.

As for if that means you're WL/R, not at all! KCU staggers its acceptances. Plently of people like me and @sensorimotorstage were 8/13 interviees and just got the A today, even though some from our interview cohort were accepted on August 26.

Interviewed 9/3 what do you all estimate the timeline of a decision coming out?

Would any of the accepted individuals mind sharing a picture of their portal so we can see the order of the flow prior to acceptance?

Seems like none of us from 8/20 heard back today (at least not on SDN). I'm guessing there will be a wave of 8/20 acceptances next week.

I got an OOS A on 8/26 and interviewed 8/20. I applied to both campuses and found out my campus today. My portal now shows accepted and location

My cycle there was a good bit of waitlist movement.

OMS I at KCU. I know the process seems grueling and waiting to know your future is awful- but try to relax and enjoy the process and your time to watch Netflix and TikTok and everything else you have now. You probably won’t have that time after med school starts.

KCU had the fastest turnaround for interview decisions my application cycle and they were the most communicative of all the schools I applied to. That’s part of the reason I’m here now. Some schools you apply to will ghost you completely and you won’t ever hear back, so try not to agonize waiting. For example during orientation at KCU- I got an interview invite at another school. No thanks.

You all got this. Try to relax and enjoy the time you have. Time is valuable and enjoy all the time you have right now.

For those wondering- yes I am happy with my decision to come here. I feel supported and appreciated. It’s a big class so if you are wanting a closer cohort type of feel it’s harder to have here- but you find your friends and people.

Joplin has a smaller campus and very close knit group, about 165 OMS I and OMS II on campus + a dental school we share the building with

Hi all, I'm an OMS-4 at KCU-Joplin just dropping by to say feel free to DM me any questions you might have! I'm finalizing my ERAS right now and on a Sub-I so I might be slow in responding so I apologize in advance. But congrats to everyone with your acceptances!

What are some of the strengths and weaknesses to KC and Joplin campus?
Feel free to add anything if any current students has opinions

KC:
Strengths - Big city with more social events
Weakness - Traffic, parking, more expensive

Joplin:
Strengths - Cheaper, live close to school and groceries, newer campus, no traffic
Weakness - Not living in a big city with the concerts and sporting events and social aspect

Both campuses are the same academically. The teachers are the same, KC has about 270 kids and Joplin 160 so size is different but that doesn't have much impact on anything. At the end of the day you get out of it what you put into it. If you want to have fun you will find ways to have fun, if you want to focus more on school than that will happen too.

I agree with those points (although I resent being called a "kid" haha) and I'll add:

KC - pros: you get the full campus experience since it is more than one building, the majority of first year professors are at KC campus (1st year is when you might prefer to go to live lectures), OMM professors are much better (don't even get me started on Dr. Joy in Joplin), in my opinion, we have more fun in KC mostly bc there are more things to do
-cons: crime (car theft/break-ins are common), KC is expensive, there are 3 med schools in the area

Joplin - pros: community is close knit, town is quiet (if you're into that), it's the only med school in town
-cons: there's nothing going on in Joplin, small-town Missouri (interpret that how you like), no major airports nearby

I think you'll have a good educational experience at either campus so to me it really depends on what kind of living environment you prefer

Random question as a musician who *really* loves concerts - do concerts tend to come through KC? My style is more rock/metal/emo/punk stuff but I’ve never paid attention to concert tours listing places other than where I live lmao

As a MO resident (with very similar music taste) they *usually* hit STL over KC, but in the last few years there have been an increasing amount at Arrowhead in KC

Thank you so much for the insight. I live in one of the main metalcore hotbeds (central florida) so I’d be super interested to research this more because it’s a large part of my life. Cheers!!!
