congratulations!Interesting. I just got an email for my A from last month.
Lots of time to come in from the WL though, especially after TMDSAS match day in February. Hang in thereJust got waitlisted. Pretty bummed out (11/7 interview)
Very true! I’ll most likely give up my seat after match day since public Texas schools are a lot cheaperLots of time to come in from the WL though, especially after TMDSAS match day in February. Hang in there
Would you be ok sharing your stats?Just got waitlisted. Pretty bummed out (11/7 interview)
I am not a current student, but I spoke with one not too long ago (either a 3rd or 4th-year student, to be exact), and they said the changes have been made. They honestly did not have much to complain about, and just to add further context, they actually experienced the FRQ exams etc that people often complain about. I am now on the hunt for other students to gather more opinions just to be sure 🙂Any current students that applicants or admitted students can speak to? I know they made promise for a lot of changes and talked about having a compassionate culture. I wanted to see if those promises have been met and how things have been.
Glad to hear about the faculty. I think it's reassuring that the faculty is actively making changes.I am not a current student, but I spoke with one not too long ago (either a 3rd or 4th-year student, to be exact), and they said the changes have been made. Edit: They also said the faculty is great and there to help.
i think so too. i am planning to speak with another student soon, so i will update with their opinions as well.Glad to hear about the faculty. I think it's reassuring that the faculty is actively making changes.
They sent this email out today:it is probably too early, but does anyone know when they start sending out financial aid? also, is there an accepted students groupme?
What year did you graduate? As a former student, I can say that UIWSOM is true to their word when they say they are making changes. My class saw some of the biggest changes throughout our 4 years there, and I saw so many more changes happening even after graduation. The Dean and faculty really care about students and their success
if you are going to share rumors, they should be current. What is your question anyhow? Is there any truth to this Reddit post ? It was deleted by the person who posted it, so you can't find it on the Reddit website, but it was archived.
Does anatomy class actually expect you to bring your own materials? Do the anatomy exams actually test on the minutiae from the anatomy apps? Is the self-learning curriculum not effective? Those are my concerns reading the post. But of course, it could just be some student not doing well.if you are going to share rumors, they should be current. What is your question anyhow?

Gloves. The complaint mentioned needing to buy your own gloves for cadaver lab. I feel like that's expected. But then again, I'm not sure if anything in the complaint is true.Own materials as in cadavers or dummys?
was this a recent post? i think knowing that info is helpful for those of us in the current application cycleGloves. The complaint mentioned needing to buy your own gloves for cadaver lab. I feel like that's expected. But then again, I'm not sure if anything in the complaint is true.

again not a current student but spoke with one lol...They said that adjusting to the curriculum was hard but manageable. Mandatory small group sessions are helpful because of the collaboration. Students are given a list of objectives for guidance. The difficulty comes from not being given the full picture but bits and pieces. Idk if any other current students can speak on this, but it is what I have heard. Overall, both students I have spoken to said it is doable because required sessions are usually over at noon (aside from simulation sessions that may be added, but these are not everyday from my understanding).Self directed learning is fine, because at the end of the day, it really is. The question is, are you learning anything in lectures or given the exact resources that are needed in order to study and do well. Its not like the school has a 50% drop out rate or anything, so there must be some some sort off curriculum going around that people are using in order to study (ex. Anki decks, notes etc.)
I have yet to see anyone talk about the very specifics of how students who do well study. Anyone attending currently willing to share this? I think this is especially important because the school has changed dramatically in a better direcfion recently
I just graduated this May (2025)What year did you graduate?
Don't worry about a January interview for this school because they are an AACOMAS (not TMDSAS) school and continue interviewing to March or April.Should I be worried about a Jan interview? I have been hearing that they primarily waitlist post-December and UIWSOM is currently my top choice. I emailed a couple times about interviewing sooner but no openings at this time.
Thank you!! I am OOS so my earliest option was January unfortunately and I am just super nervous based on what others are saying, haha.Don't worry about a January interview for this school because they are an AACOMAS (not TMDSAS) school and continue interviewing to March or April.
There will probably be a small batch of offers from the WL after TMDSAS Match Day in mid-February when some folks who also applied to TMDSAS might get a match decision and withdraw.
The AACOMAS schools run on a separate system from TMDSAS.Does anyone know if accepting a UIWSOM admission offer affects the TMDSAS match? I have Prematched into other TMDSAS schools but haven’t finalized my rank list and haven’t counted out UIWSOM. I’m afraid that if I pay the fee to hold my seat at UIWSOM then the schools I Prematched at will take away their offers or I won’t be able to match on match day.
Thank you very much! So if I pay the fee and hold my seat, but end up matching at a school I prefer, would I then have to contact UIWSOM to essentially withdraw? The AACOMAS schools run on a separate system from TMDSAS.
TMDSAS will not be notified of you holding an offer at an AACOMAS school, and it is allowed to keep your options open at both.
Although it might seem like a big deposit, if you are not sure about your school choice, you would have to place your deposit at UIWSOM to hold it open as an option.
After TMDSAS Match Day you will know more. But if you already have pre-matches, you know you can go to one of them.
Yes, that's right.Thank you very much! So if I pay the fee and hold my seat, but end up matching at a school I prefer, would I then have to contact UIWSOM to essentially withdraw?
