I just got back my MCAT score a few days ago for the 7/28 test. My breakdown was 9ps/9v/10b. I was only averaging about a 30, so it's not far from what I expected.

I submitted by primary on AMCAS on August 9th to be verified, so it should be complete in a few weeks. I submitted my AACOMAS a few days ago, unfortunately.

I am a male Caucasian (Lebanese) Kinesiology major at Massachusetts flagship state school heading into my senior year. I'm in the honors college. I have 3 great LOC's (at least I hope so hehe). I have good teaching experiences (TA for A&P II, tutoring). I've had leadership and a decent amount of volunteer experiences-- I'm an assistant supervisor for a group that volunteers weekly. I've worked at Childrens Hospital Boston the past 2 summers as a research assistant (listed as an author on a publication), but I've had a good amount of clinical experiences there. I work in kinesiology lab at school in which I am doing my thesis currently... I work with clinical subjects. I'm a treasurer for a group. I've had a lot of working experience (regional purchasing manager and as a technician making circuit boards). My shadowing experiences are poor... I've only shadowed 3 doctors for a total of about 50 hours.

What do you guys think my chances are at some of the schools? I know schools like Harvard, BU, Wake Forest are out of the picture (unless there is some sort of divine intervention).

I'd love to hear any advice you guys have for me.

Thanks!

Well I think you have an excellent shot at MD and I imagine you'll be able to pick between multiple acceptances.

50 hours shadowing is about average, not poor.

Your MCAT is, admittedly, low for some of your reaches you applied to but your score is well balanced. Your EC's sound very good.

Why'd you apply to Hawaii?

You have a great shot at MDs, GPA seems to be more important than MCAT but your MCAT is still competitive.
Unless you are in state for Hawaii you have little chance there, they are very hard to get into for out of staters, probably because so many people want to go to Hawaii. I don't know about the other schools but you may want to look into that. I had several schools say unless I had strong ties to the state I shouldn't apply.
I think you will be a strong candidate though, best of luck.

Thank you for the advice!

Are there any other school anybody recommends that would be a good match for me?

p.s. Applying to Hawaii was an ignorant move. I didn't know how competitive it was out of state.
