So basically I'm from McMaster University in Canada but am a US resident (live in California). I have 2 years left and about a 3.0 GPA (my science GPA is a little higher). If i apply to universities in California would I count as an out of state student or not? I have yet to write my MCAT and I do have quite a bit of ECs. Also I was offerred an acceptance into a very exclusive program at my school - Honours Biology and Pharmacology Co-op. Currently I am in general science and the courses would be a lot easier than this Co-op program. Do you recommend entering the Co-op program despite having more difficult courses? - Also co-op requires me to do a thesis which I'm worried about.

Do your parents still count you on their taxes? if so, it's their state of residence.

If not, then what's your legal residence? If O Canada, then sorry, but you're OOS

You've been in Canada too long...it's taking the MCAT.

Well, do you want to convince AdComs that you can handle medical school, which will be a LOT more harder than any program McMaster's offers? Then yes. Do you think you will do poorly in the Coop? Right now you're NOT competitive for any MD school, and barely competitive for some DO programs. You'd probably be autorejected at mine. if the current program is so easy, then why aren't you at a 3.5-4.0?

Looks like you've got some thinking to do about your career.
