  • First-time applicant, Texas resident
  • 3.0 undergrad GPA. 25 hours of post-bacc with 3.8 GPA
  • 504 (127/123/126/128). Retake from a 23 in 2015
  • HPAC committee evaluation from my post-bacc university that include letters from 2 MD's and a DO
  • 3.5 years scribe experience, 3 years as medical assistant
  • Healthcare experience includes medical trip to Haiti, scribing, med. assisting, physician shadowing
  • Opened up my own business (food truck) for 2.5 years
  • Volunteering includes Laura W. Bush Foundation events, several non-profit company conferences over the past 5 years, and plans for after-school tutoring for Dallas ISD students
Back-up plans would be the UNT M.S in Biomedical Sciences program (1 year) and retaking the MCAT, but I'm hoping Texas will show this non-trad some love. Appreciate any advice you guys have!

Your chances for a Texas MD acceptance are very low with your stats. Concentrate on applying to DO schools and these are schools where you have a chance for an interview with your stats:
ARCOM (new school)
BCOM (new school)
ACOM
WCU-COM
LMU-DCOM
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
LUCOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
NYIT-Arkansas (new school)
RVU-Utah (new school)
UIWSOM (new school-Texas)
You may need a DO LOR for some schools.
