An MCAT of 36 is awesome, and if your lower grades were mainly during your early undergrad years and you have a recent upward grade trend to reassure adcomms about your work ethic, you have a reasonable chance that the rest of the information on your application will be reviewed and appreciated. If your lower grades are more recent, and you aspire to admission at other than your state school, I'd recommend you delay your application for a year, do additional upper-level science coursework (which will also raise your GPA), and give yourself a better chance of acceptance.
