Do you think my GPA is too low to be competitive at schools like Columbia, Yale, Cornell, Vanderbilt, ext? My first semester of college is what brings my GPA down, each year after that my GPA has been >3.9. Will schools take into account those trends?

You can try those other schools too. I gave you schools where you have a good chance for an interview with your stats.

Fwiw, I had a similar cgpa and got interviews at Columbia and Duke this cycle, rejected pre-II at Vandy. I think it just depends on how much they like the rest of your app, but I would go for it.
