What is your state of residence??

100 clinical hours is really cookie cutter and on the low side. Get that number to > 150

MCAT is too low for Mayo and Pitt

U VM, VCU and EVMS you can keep

May I ask why this is the case? I have looked on MSAR and I’ve seen several public schools that interview 7-10% of their OOS applicants, with a pretty decent distribution among states (not just the surrounding). For example, northeast Ohio Medical University. Would a school like that be acceptable for an OOS applicant?

As a rule of thumb you want a place that is at least 25% OOS to keep it on the list. If its like 10% its probably going to be driven by people with ties to the state (grew up and moved away for college, went there for college, alma matter of the attached ugrad etc)

When you say 25% OOS, do you mean 25% of the matriculants out of state or 25% of OOS applicants who receive interviews? The 10% I was referring to above was in reference to % interviewed.

They usually prefer students of the state or those with connections/regional ties. You have 50+ school, gotta start somewhere.

120 shadowing. 3.7 both gpa's.
You have several state public schools on your list that accept few non residents with your MCAT of 511 and no connection to the state. For example, in recent years half of the nonresidents admitted to Toledo are from Michigan. For U Minnesota many of the non residents admitted are from the Dakotas (for historical reasons). Also, the Jesuit schools are looking for applicants that have many more hours of clinical exposure than you have. I suggest these schools from your list:

given the % of OOS students matriculating in these public schools unless you have the significant ties to the state or another compelling reason (a few med schools have couple "matches") if you do not have extremely good stats you may actually be diluting your chances of getting into medical school. Writing all of these secondary applications well will be difficult even if you make it your "full time job" Your residency is in NJ stick to those public schools.
