Hi guys, just got my scores back and I got 11PS 8VR 10BS. I figured these would be my scores, I could never quite get the hang of verbal reasoning no matter how much I practiced. I do not have visions of going to any top tier schools, but I was wondering what my chances would be. I would like to stay around the midwest (Medical College of Wisconsin being my first choice). Any constructive feedback is welcome!

Additionally, my extra-curriculars are competitive. Job shadow and volunteer heavy as well as much involvement in my University. I studied abroad and am a Spanish for the Health Professions Minor.

I am planning on taking a gap year as well.

You should be fine. You'll definitely get asked about the verbal score but it is what it is. You're GPA seems good enough that you should get in at least somewhere if you apply broadly and reasonably. If you were around 3.5 GPA I would say it would be tougher but I think its alright.

That being said it's impossible to judge ones chances (especially if their numbers aren't stellar) without looking at specifics of the whole application. And even with specifics, schools all have different little quirks that look for so anything you hear on sdn is at best going to be a pat on the back to make you feel better. No one can guarantee acceptance.

Check out the AAMC Charts for a statistical idea based on your MCAT, GPA, and Ethnicity. https://www.aamc.org/data/facts/app...mcat-gpa-grid-by-selected-race-ethnicity.html

Alright I do agree with that. I interview well and hopefully they will realize that my social skills are far above what my verbal reasoning might want to suggest haha. Thank you for your feedback!

Is there anyone else that may have some advice in my situation?

I am from Wisconsin and I am looking at only Midwest schools. Medical College of Wisconsin being my number 1. I am applying to Creighton, Loyola, U of MN, among others. I am being realistic and avoiding any real reach schools, but do you have any ideas of some lower to middle of the line schools that I would have a decent shot?

You have a reasonable chance (say 40-50%) if you apply early, to your state schools, and to lower tier schools. Hopefully you have great ECs to make up for a low MCAT. Don't retake this late in the year. Only retake if you have a really unsuccessful cycle (as in zero interviews). Good luck

I am actually taking a gap year to boost my resume a bit, do you think that will help?

Could you go into more detail about your EC's? Volunteering/Shadowing are the norm nowadays, nothing too spectacular about either one. What else will you be adding under that section?

I am heavily involved in Greek life around campus (leadership, philanthropy, etc.) Yes, I know that Greek life can get a bad rap but it has been a really great part of my life these last three years. I studied abroad in Spain last summer to build on my Spanish minor. I am captain of the Club soccer team and was a group discussion leader (100+ hours volunteering) for my university's freshman orientation and much more. I have done research throughout this past year and have also been a TA for anatomy. I have focused strongly on covering all my bases these past 3 years, but I am always open for more suggestions to get involved.
