I'm not interested in taking a gap year. My first MCAT score was 24R (8,9,7) and I received my second MCAT score today 29R (12,7,10). I'm really curious how my 2 pt drop in verbal will be seen. I'm also interested how adcoms will view my 5pt increase. I was honestly expecting a 9 or 10 on VR, and call me foolish, but I requested a regrade. I'm assuming no change, though.

Anyways, I just want to get into one medical school. My plan is to apply to 20-30 MD schools, and if I don't hear anything by October, apply to Nova Southeastern DO. I applied to all of the FL schools, and am now looking for other OOS schools that fit my stats range to apply to.

As of now, I applied to SUNY Downstate, Rosalind Franklin, Medical College of Wisconsin, Rush, Vermont, Tufts, George Washington, Arizona, Creighton, NYMC, and Temple.

Is getting into one of these schools, or the FL schools, a good possibility?

Consider applying to schools that will take each of your highest subscores. 31 isn't bad!

Aren't there a good amount of schools in Florida? they must give some preference to in state applicants, so you probably have a pretty good shot at getting an interview in state??
The MSAR says there is a new school in Florida too? I would think you would have an incredibly easier time getting into a public instate school than many of the schools you've listed.

You have a good GPA, so maybe if you don't get accepted this cycle it might just be worth it to wait a year and try and get a better MCAT score instead of applying to a DO school?

try apply to Historical Black Medical Schools ex Howard they have lower average MCAT, and it doesn't matter that you are white.

You need to have significant ties to the African American community and have shown a strong commitment if you are not African American.

Im in a very similar spot (28Q, 3.8,3.86) I am gonna go for it and just apply to a ton of schools.... according to the MSAR and other charts on SDN we have at least a ~60% chance..... as far as in state schools Florida provides alot of opportunites. I wish you the best of luck!!!! hopefully 60% is good enough for both of us!

I did same thing but I had low GPA, high MCAT. I am applying to 26 MD and 7 DO. Cranking out them MD's all day. I am applying to Howard also, I heard that if you have worked with underserved communities before then they will consider you. I lived down the street from Howard for a year and the area is really fun, close to a lot of good areas in DC. It used to be terrrrriibbble but its up and coming. Considering we are both as white as they come, we shall see.
