Hey friends,

Just wanted to get your opinions on my school list. First, a little background:

I am a CA Resident. I did my undergrad in Film at a CSU, then a 2 year postbac. I only speak English (very basic Spanish).

MCAT: 512 (130/128/127/127)

Film experience: 3 years (3000 hours)
  • Paid film employment: 3 years ~2000 hours
  • Student film production group (leadership): 3 years ~1000 hours
Clinical experience: (650 hours)
  • General volunteer - 100 hours
  • Geriatric patient advocate - 100 hours
  • Scribe - 450 hours
Non-clinical volunteering: (115 hours)
  • Needle Exchange: 40 hours
  • Tutor Homeless students: 75 hours
Clinical Research: 1.5 years (expected 1500 hours)
  • (8 months volunteer, turned to paid position)
Shadowing: 2 physicians (35 hours)


Here is my list of schools:

IS: Do I have a chance at any of these?

What do yall think? Should I make amendments to this list? Should I also apply to DO?

Apply to DO as a safety net. I would cross out colorado bc their IS bias is heavy, Rush is extremely service based if thats for you. Also, I would consider adding drexel, U of Vermont and Quinnipac.

I have very similar stats so feel free to message me anytime.
 
You have a good list and should receive several interviews. You could add schools such as Hofstra, Einstein, Quinnipiac, Drexel, Temple, Tulane, NYMC.

I have seen people with similar MCATs consider Einstein. To me, the median score seems a little out of my reach. Is there a reason you might have suggested Einstein?
