I was going to list the LDS mission as one of my activities (obviously, not as a service mission because I was there to proselyte). It seems odd not to include it when I took 1.5 years off of school to do it and I really grew as a person there.

Include it, just describe it well. It will explain why you weren't in school for that time and can show some positive things. I think goro is just saying it doesn't count as service, which I think you understand.

What would be great is if you have done service with hispanic populations since then and can show that you implemented what you learned and show your compassion for the people.

If you're going with a relatively short school list, you need to increase your yield a bit. As a CA applicant, I would apply to at least 20.

Remove Mayo, BU, Tufts

Add Rochester, Emory, Case, Pitt, and Sinai.
