What do you think? Should I go for those reach schools in the list? I know my EC's are weak, and it's late in the application cycle.

In the absence of superuior achievement in some field of endeavor, I doubt that one semester of research and lack of a leadership activity will greatly impress the highly-selective research giants on your list. Your longevity as a writing tuor is impressive. The EMT gig no doubt gave you terrific patient experience and the shadowing is probably well above average. Your nonmedical community volunteering, could use some augmentation, though. Overall, I think your application would benefit greatly by waiting until June 2012 to apply while you beef up the Experiences.
