Is there enough change between the 2nd and 3rd ed. to warrant purchasing the latter, since I just bought the former?
Thanks.

3rd isn't out yet (later next month?) so it will have to do, I guess. Or wait.

Dude-

if you know the 2nd edition inside out i doubt you will fail biochem. Also, not much has changed in biochem in the past 5 years.

This is true considering the level of detail that biochemistry is presented in Lippincott?s, but once you get into structure and mechanisms there has been considerable change and progress.

I think the 2nd edition will do the trick. 👍

3rd edition will be in color and should be out to places like amazon in about a week

My point is that you can get Honors in Biochem and get 99 on USMLE Step 1 if you read Lippencott as is. The new edition thing is a scam unless of course you are about to get the book. It's like Pre-test always updating the edition, but as you'll note, 99% of the book is the same.

I have the 2nd edition from my big sib and it works like a gem. I wanted to get the 3rd edition just to get updated but I don't have that cash to burn right now. I rather take the $40 and treat myself to a movie, cheap dinner and ice cream.

For those who don't have the 2nd edition, then you can decide to pay more and get the 3rd or pay less and get a used copy of the 2nd.

I got the 2nd edition for free, and it seems like a great book. I don't need fancy illustrations since it seems like the 2nd ed has clear explanations with simple and lucid diagrams. I think I am sticking with the second edition and using the extra $$ to buy other helpful textbooks. 👍

Just use what you have. Musicman is spot on-- Biochem hasn't changed, and the second edition doesn't have any errors that i'm aware of.
