Yes, "the Third-World" is a Cold War relic. "The Global South" is now more in vogue. I tend to use the older term when it would be understood by my audience, where other terms would not, and do not get too tripped up over post-modern critiques of such imperfect terminology, as ALL terminology inherently is.

But preferably, we let people self-define, and take that up in our discourse.
