I'm not applying until next cycle, but want to see what else I can do over the next year to strengthen my application and alter my school list.

1. cGPA and sGPA: both 4.0

2. MCAT score breakdown: 510 (128/126/128/128)

3. State of Residence: IL, ties to MI

4. Ethnicity: white, ORM

5. Undergrad institution: state school

6. Clinical Experience: 1300 hour paid EMT work for events (like sports games, concerts, etc), vaccine clinics, and covid screenings; 50 hour volunteer EMT for vaccine clinics; 50 hour volunteer patient escort at Planned Parenthood

7. Research: 150 hour (1 semester) psychology research in undergrad. Presented project at college's research symposium for faculty, but no real poster/pubs. Will be starting graduate research assistant position this fall in public health (15 hour/week)

8. Shadowing: 20 hours ENT, 6 hours OB/GYN, 20 hours pediatrics, 24 hours family medicine, 8 hours at CDC in public health

9. Non-clinical volunteering: 250 hours Crisis Text Line

10. Other Extracurriculars: 3 years on competitive cheerleading team - we competed D1 at Nationals twice and I served as treasurer, 3 summers as a camp counselor, 2 leadership positions in sorority - director and VP of finance (executive board position)

11. Relevant Honors/Awards: 2 major academic awards from Greek life, 2 honor societies in undergrad

12: Other Relevant Info: currently enrolled in a top 20 MPH program for my 2 gap years, my application/essays will be very public health focused because I want to work in preventative medicine/public health as a physician

What should I work on improving in the next year? My main goal is to up my volunteer hours and research. Any schools I should add/drop? My MCAT was taken in June 2020 (before I decided on gap years), so it may be expired for some schools next cycle. Thank you in advance!

38 schools is too many to apply to. You could remove state public schools that accept few non residents with your MCAT and no connection to the state including Wright State, Missouri, Louisville.
