Hey allI wanted to know what my chances are for some of my top schools choices. I am a Genetics major in the honors college at ASU with a cumulative 4.0 GPA (actually 4.2 due to plus minus grading). I got a 37Q on my MCAT PS 11 VR 12 BS 14. I don't have a ton of clinical experience, this summer I shadowed an infectious disease specialist and I am colunteering at my local hospital as a patient shadower. This is kind of a secret shopper who evaluates the bedside manner of the hosptial staff. Besides clinical I have done 2 years of research developing West Nile vaccines, and I'm starting my thesis on the evolution of influenza A in the southwest. I am also an undergraduate biology lab TA meaning I run and teach my own lab classes off of lectures I design. I was pledge class treasurer in my fraternity and I am a manager at the gas station I work at. Finally I also was a religious educator at my local parish for two years. My top schools are UW-Madison, Tulane, UNC, and Virginia. Please don't hold back, thanks.

I trust that your list is more extensive than those four schools. The state schools are not extremely OOS-friendly, but you seem to be cut from the cloth of applicants that get in as an OOSer. I think you have a great shot at those schools and may even get offered some sort of scholarship. Good luck.

How the heck did you get such a high score, not fair.

The patient shadowing just came down the volunteer pipeline and was born out of the hospital's desire to improve customer service, it can annoy the employees but I get to see a bunch of different things.

Those schools aren't my only ones the complete list is:

Univeristy of Arizona-Phoenix (My residency state but I will do anything to not go here)
University of Louisville
UW-Madison
Medical College of Wisconsin
Duke
UNC
Wake Forest
Tulane
LSU- New Orleans
University of Alabama
Johns Hopkins
USC Keck
Drexel
Emory
University of Colorado
University of Virginia
Vanderbilt
Virginia Tech

You should have a shot at all of those schools with your stats.

Also Apply to U of A Tucson. Tucson is much nicer than phoenix, especially the university area!

If you don't get into at least 75% of those schools, there's something broken with the system.
