Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of deciding on my schedule for 4th year of med school, and I need to decide on which psych electives to do. I've heard that's it's more important to do a full rotation in a crisis center/psych er because it gives you the most opportunity to work with and evaluate patients by yourself. Is this true? Are there any other electives that are "essential" to do if I'm going into psych?

I have heard that neurology is a good 4th year choice for psych. I am doing an emergency psychiatry rotation at one of my top residency picks, because it offers greater exposure to key attendings and residents.

Thanks for the info histrionic, but neuro is a requirement for us anyway. I was thinking of doing away electives as well, and was also wondering if I should go for crisis/er or inpatient.
