Ok, I started Kaplan, and took the diagnostic. Needless to say, my score was very low. But I kind of figured, this is my first time ever taking the test. I am currently taking Orgo I with lab and it ends on Friday, thank god the madness ends yet for another to begin for MCAT study.

Now, many of you may say, why havent you been studying all along, however, as a post bacc student and taking 3 science classes and 3 correlating labs (along with extra recitations that my university implemented last year), I found myself with very little time to spare. Perhaps, I am a slow learner but I simply found myself studying ALL the time, everyday, and weekends, non stop. Now, as a pre med, its normal to go through this.

So, I have deviced my MCAT study schedule, after this Friday, I will have one obligation only, THE MCAT! And I have scheduled so that I have 420 hours of studying for the MCAT up to the very last week.

So, as I am sure I will get plenty of replies to this saying I am a looser for not preparing sooner, who thinks that 420 hours of studying prior is enough, plus taking Kaplan with all the AAMCS tests and 5 full length exams?

I am not aiming for a 45T here, simply in the average, as I am sure most of you are. Go ahead, hit the threading...I can take the abuse!

Have you not taken Orgo II? I would highly recommend it, a lot of MCAT organic questions come from second semester material.

i think 420 hours is enough time, but just be realistic with yourself-- studying full time for the mcat is not as easy as it sounds. make sure to give yourself time to maintain sanity.

oh sheeat this is my 100th post, woops.

yeah go for it, i don't know whay more people do this, for after all that is what they do in med school, they cram 4yrs into 8weeks for some modules...

i did it your way, i was exhuasted took some few days off before the test and killed it. on the test everything looked so familiar and my brain was jammin, i can't wait to start meds (oh sheeat two mo months, i love it)

Well, thanks guys. I am not working, and have no social life to begin. No, I have not taken orgo II yet and wont until the fall. That, unfortunately is something that I chose from the beginning. At my school, we learn aromatics and a lot of orgo II in orgo I so that helps. The MCAT changed their orgo section recently and there is not too much orgo anymore (this is what the kaplan teacher told me).

And, yes, less talk, and more action.. Absolutely! And yes, it is going to be tough to get through some days, I can only imagine. But, I have to do this. Thanks for the support.

that seems like a tough schedule. Personally I am happy as long as I am averaging about 3 hours/day studying for the MCAT. I spend about 2 hours on the train mon-fri so that helps TREMENDOUSLY!!

Heres a suggestion to get you through. Always write your notes on notecards. Under no circumstance take notes on anything you can't fit in your pockets or pocketbook. Review these all the time to keep them fresh. A lot of people try to do this, but usually only whip them out once a day. The secret is to study during the day, and even in your down time. Watch television and review during the commericals. If you're a passenger while commuting, review then. Review while you eat. Whatever it takes. Post a few in the bathroom. However, don't burn yourself out. You want to do this type of review every other day. Also lessen the intensity on days you feel out of your element.

Hopefully, by doing this, they'll become second nature to the point that it won't be mentally taxing to go over even the most indepth physiology, or even the most dull chemistry.

This review, plus a practice test a week will get you far.

Good luck.

This is a good approach. Thanks for the insight.

Good luck. I ramped it up in the last month or so too, and it paid off.

Cozmosis,

I read some of your threads earlier and I was wondering if you only prepared with EK or if you only did a class?

I was wondering because I've been studying solo (I took the April MCAT too) and I was wondering what your method was... I'm retaking it in August and hopefully I can implement some other strategy along with my solo studying...

Thanks for your input....
