I am a re-applicant with a 515 and a 3.92 applicant. I am an Asian from FL. I had a very unsuccessful cycle last year and am super scared going into this cycle.

I have shadowing, research, and volunteering. I played intramural flag football and was on a dance team for three years. For my gap year I will be working as a medical scribe.

I am torn between early decision or regular.

If I ED it would be to USF or UCF

If I apply RD it would be to

USF
UCF
UM
UF
FSU
Baylor

Please be as harsh and realistic as possible with me, I don't want any surprises

Why do you think you were unsuccessful last year (i.e what do you think your application was missing)? You seem to have a solid GPA (what is your sGPA?) and MCAT so I'm guessing either your Personal Statement or your extracurriculars were not as strong as your GPA and MCAT!

personally I think I was unsuccessful because my MCAT was a 508 which I stupidly retook and got a 503.. In addition to this I did not have much experience with shadowing so I am hoping the scribing will improve my application. My sGPA is a 3.93

Oh wow, perfect! Your MCAT is MUCH higher this time, congratulations. I think the retake and scoring lower was the weak point in your application. I think scribing will definitely help!

Additionally, your science GPA very high. I think you'll do great this cycle.

Just make sure you address your reapplication (i.e what you did different) and what you learned over the past year. Schools that you re-apply to will take your old app and your new app (old P.S and new P.S) and compare, so make sure they are different!

So your MCATs are most likely to be averaged and this comes out to ~509. Being a 3x taker will hurt.

So conservatively, I recommend:

All FL schools
U VM
Rush
NYMC
Creighton
Albany
Rosy Franklin
Drexel
Temple
MCW
SLU
WVU
Jefferson
Tulane
Loyola
Wake Forest
Loma Linda (only if you are SDA or a very devout Christian)
VCU
Netter
EVMS
Oakland-B
Uniformed Services University/Hebert (just be aware of the military service commitment)
Any DO program. I can't recommend Touro-NY, or LUCOM, for different reasons. Start list with Nova and LECOM-B. Beggars can't be choosy.

As a teaching moment, Baylor matriculates only ~0.5% of its OOS applicants. Thus, I can't recommend it to anyone outside of TX, unless they're a superstar.

Got it, thank you soo much for your input!

@mamadrama just wanted to let you know @Goro is much more qualified than I am for advice, so I would take their input very seriously! Goro helped with my list and I'm very grateful and appreciative for their help 🙂
