7-10 DAT taken, advice please
Started by Shjfr
AA and TS overall is not too bad but the scores fluctuate quite a bit.
I think you have a solid gpa so if you can raise your DAT score by couple of points on each section you should be good to go.
I would recommend using a variety of study material, not solely depending on kbb.
I think to be on the safe side, it's best to retake. Don't worry too much about not being in the first round of interviews, it's better than not getting any. Good luck!

I dont get how nobody likes Kaplan bio...I got destroyer and did that bio and it was easy after doing kaplan, I got Cliffs yesterday and its nearly the same as Kaplan, I mean im reading it because its so highly praised but the questions they have are no harder than kaplans and the reading goes into no more detail. Maybe do you guys mean only the Kaplan book? I mean online they go into high detail but the book itself is pretty light. Is that what you guys refer to all the time?

I don't really remember RC, since I didn't read too much. I remember something about floating bridges though. Then neurons. I don't remember the first passage at all.
And yeah I read Kaplan blue book; I don't have the online course.

The averages went down for repeaters of the DAT? Interesting...
Thanks for those links!

Those are only stats. Stats = are not always true. Obviously you will have people who thinks they can do better just by retaking it. But, you do need to study harder and learn from your mistakes. If you follow up your mistakes, you will do better.
Stats are only stats, it really depends on yourself whether if you really want to retake it and have the motivation to do better the second time around. There are plenty of people who improved on their 2nd take just because they studied a lot more.

Thanks, I think this is what most people are talking about as well
To answer your question, your AA and TS are average, but those two 16's are going to raise some questions despite a slightly above average GPA. I can almost guarantee that your biggest mistake was limiting your studies to the Kaplan BB. I did that for a few weeks, but decided to use other sources before taking the test. If I didn't do this, I would not have passed. Take a few weeks off and relax. Skim over Kaplan again for a week or two. Then move on to your college bio and chem books. Specifically focus on the items listed on ada's website... http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_test_specifications.pdf
Take at least a month and do a thorough job at this. When October comes around, you will absolutely be better prepared and will thank yourself when you see your improved DAT scores. Good luck. You'll do fine.

You got an interview already? How exciting! When did you submit your application and DAT? Do they accept faxed DAT score report?
No schools accept faxed scores reports in lieu of official copies. All schools require official copies before they decide on each applicant's acceptance.
Schools use faxed copies to expedite the process of sending interview invites, and that's it.

Kaplan is a great resource....not sure on the blue book but the kaplan white book is at least.
Cliffs AP bio is another outstanding source (cliffs + kaplan is a pretty good combo)
I used cliffs AP + kaplan white book + destroyer and mixed a lil wikipedia in worked out awesome!!!!
The only area I feel is weak between all of them is development which I used my bio book for, so I recommend finding an additional source for developmental stuff.
