hey guys,

i was wondering if schools review your file even though mcats scores are not available yet. i just need some clarification regarding this. here is my situation. i applied really early and already sent in my secondary apps to umdnj and pcom. i have never takened the mcats and will be taking them this aug. do these schools even look over your app or is it filed away until the mcat scores are sent?
if that's the case, that would mean that they won't review my file until october or so? doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of applying early? how does that work for early applicants taking mcats for the first time in august? i was just wondering b/c the whole purpose of me applying early was for me to increase my chances due to rolling admissions. would i still be piled in with the early applicants?

I suppose some schools could be different, but popular belief is that they wait until your file is complete (w/ mcat's) before reviewing it. Even though, applying early and fulfilling all their other requirements before your scores hit is a huge advantage. Some people wait until their scores arrive to even apply, then they have to write the essays and get their LOR's lined up. You're doing it the right way. I did the same thing last year also.

hey slickness,

the reason why i didn't take them in april was b/c i was in the middle of my post-bac at pcom. it was important for me that finished off the well. but i do realized that i should have taken it even before i started my program. i'm was working full-time as well.

I doubt any school will consider you without the MCAT scores. But I might be wrong. I just received an email today from MSUCOM stating that they have received everything except my MCAT score and not until after they receive the scores, they will consider me for an interview. I am also taking the August MCAT.
