Hey everyone; I am very fond of my state school (MD) since it seems to be ranked well among its counterparts and is obviously also less expensive for an in-stater. But I was wondering if i were to get acceptances to other non state schools, if merit scholarships/grants are at all prevalent? And do they give this information to you up front with an acceptance? I go to a small liberal arts school as a physics major and have a 4.0 presently (but still waiting on MCAT) so I'm hoping there may be some luck with scholarship.

Thanks for any input ...

G-

Yeah, they exist. Some are good to go when you're applying, some are active for the work you've done once in medical school. Seems there's a much higher prevalence of them at private institutions as compared to public, so do look.

G'Luck.

Yeah there are some scholarships out there, but not quite so many as you would find for undergrad. I was surprised to get one for Temple, but it seems like each school has perhaps a few for first year students. And like bigdan said, some you can earn after the first year.
