We all have our own knowledge of different schools, so why don't we do our best to come up with a list that indicates which veterinary schools track and which do not. The list is from the AAVMC's list of member schools -- starting with US schools at the top in alphabetical order, and international schools towards the bottom.

Tracking is, simply stated, a school's way of letting students indicate a species of interest that they would like to focus on (e.g. Small Animal, Equine, Food Animal, Zoo, etc).

Please do your best to copy and paste the list when you add to it so that it is preserved as more people weigh in.

Well, TECHNICALLY, we "stream" not "track".....

:)

Just being obnoxious - there's really no difference between the two. Just Davis being "Davis"...;)

You're just asking for the second year's to glare angrily at you again, LOL (referring to a post you made in another thread :p)

So far it looks like either every school tracks, or the schools that don't track work their students so hard they don't have time to look at SDN as obsessively as those that do.:D

I was speaking the other day with a professor at The Ohio State CVM about the changes that the school will making with the upcoming switch to semesters. He said that they are actually looking in to a tracking system that will better allow students to specialize. He was talking about how during clinicals every student will have "blocks" of rotations that they must do (to get exposed to everything), but that there will extra blocks that will be for certain tracks of students. Electives would be up to the students, but there will "programs" in which students have a model to follow. So, if they are in a large animal track, they will be guided to certain electives.

He said they are still trying to figure out the logistics of this system, but they are definately looking in to it. He did not sound very confident in if it will implemented or not, but said that it is an option that is being considered.

So maybe next year Ohio State will be tracking, but they also may stick with their current system.
