Dear Protease,
Happy New Year!

As you explore your options for pursuing a career in medicine, we hope that you
will consider osteopathic medicine. If you want to become a physician who works
in partnership with your patients, who considers the impact that lifestyle and
community have on the health of each individual, and who works to erase barriers
to good health, a career as an osteopathic physician would be a good match for
you.

You are invited to join us February 6 - 7, 2007 in Upstate New York for AACOM's
on-campus admission recruitment events. Local medical college Admission Officers
will be available to meet with you and answer all your questions. You may view
our recruitment events at: http://www.aacom.org/events/recruitment/

Our campus schedule and locations are as follows:

United States Military Academy (USMA) West Point
Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 5:00 - 7:30 pm
Thayer - Room 348

Vassar College
Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 3:30 - 5:00 pm
College Center - Multi-Purpose Room, 2nd Floor in Main Building

For a complete listing and updated links to all 25 of the nation's osteopathic
medical colleges, please review our on-line 2007 Osteopathic Medical College
Information Book at http://www.aacom.org/data/cib/ From the site, you may also
apply to Osteopathic Medical School.

Best wishes as you pursue a career in medicine. We look forward to meeting you
in New Orleans!

Thats an email I got, boy was I upset, I saw the words "medical" and "osteopathic" and thought it was an interview invite, then my excitement turned into sorrow.

Anyone else get this or its just me?

Which is it NY or New Orleans? I'm not going, but if anyone does, post in here what you thought.

Yeah, I got one a few weeks ago for New Orleans. It kinda surprised me, too until I read it.

I got the same e-mail today too. West Point, NY is in the Hudson Valley, but it said something about New Orleans too. I didn't really read it completely.

Anyone else notice the complete lack of WEST COAST dates?

Yeah...there's a 'sort-of' meeting in Portland...not really one even that targets and/or serves premeds. The Portland meeting seems to cater to the needs of the already licensed.

For an area and/or region that plans to be opening 2 schools for the next app cycle (Yakima and CO)...seems that we in the 'west' have been for lack of a better term 'passed over.'

Anyone else notice this...or am I way off here?

Yeah, I was on the website looking for an event bc I know that it asks in the application so I wanted to make sure that I could say that I had attended a seminar or something focused on osteopathic medicine. However, there was absolutely nothing within a days drive of me. Instead I called up my top choice school and found out when the open house is. I'll attend that instead and hopefully, that will be enough to check that box on the application.

I got the email too. I have no idea what New Orleans has to do with West Point.

I also got the e-mail but, deleted it because I wouldn't go.
